I don’t write bad reviews but this has to be said. We stayed here and the rooms were the worst we have seen for 4 star hotels anywhere on a 21 day European trip. Rooms are boring and old, beds are uncomfortable. View is amazing for sure, no denying that. Upon re entering the hotel our first evening we were chased down by a presumptuous manager and asked if we had our room key repeatedly (as if we didn’t belong). This was 7pm mind you. The food was very mediocre as well, the breakfast is gross. The only thing that saves this hotels reviews is the view which every place here has. Overall not worth the stay or the trouble at all. Shower goes from scalding hot to frozen every two seconds while nothing has been adjusted. The last night the A/C didn’t work, the following morning the water for the shower was only ice cold, and finally elevators stopped working for the building stranding us on the 5th floor with all of our luggage. Extremely rude staff when asking to address anything. Just run of the mill junk hotel with a view. Spend the extra money and go somewhere better. This is the equivalent of an American 2 or 3 star at absolute best. Terrible experience will...
Read moreI wrote perhaps 9 positive reviews from my wife's and my trip to Italy. This one is a big negative. Maybe this is because this is somewhat of a rural setting, but we found the front desk service uniformly poor. They did or would not help with dinner reservations, or more importantly, when we had terrible noises overhead in our room they would not change our room. I had to get out of bed and get the night manager to come into our room. He said it was not a problem because it stopped after 45 minutes. No apologies.|The breakfast was very poor including a one-size-fits-all machine for coffee, tea, and/or cappuccino--all of which were poor. They were constantly out of fruit.|And finally, when we went to check out they gave me a bill for $980 Euro when it was prepaid. After 25 minutes, they "found" our prepayment. Again, no apologies for a very tense situation when our driver was waiting for us. We were not about to leave and have a thousand dollars charged to us. A very poor experience for us overall. The only saving grace was impeccable...
Read moreNo need to stay anywhere else....yes you could stay in the other two fancier places and drop 3000 a night but this place is very nice. Get a room facing the ocean for sure. Know that you are not going to be able to drive your car in yourself. Park outside the gate, walk in and let the staff drive your car for you...trust me. You will see. Do not drive around Amalfi Taxi is 60 dollars each way to Almafi 20 minute ride...be prepared. Make reservations in Amalfi to eat. Convert dollars to Euros before you go....you will need them. They do not like dollars. Rent a boat with Almafi Charters. Ask for Alphonso as your captain. Get the 38 footer and go around Capri for the day. About 1500.00 dollars and worth every penny. Eat at just about any place...they are all good. Dont waste your time looking for the "best" Breakfast is pretty good. Its not the Ritz but you will like it. Get the local wine.....better than Anything in the...
