My friend and I recently went on a short break to Rome, 3 day and 4 nights. We stayed in an Air B&B in Pigneto, and saw this place was a 5m walk away just a couple of days before we flew out. What an absolutely OUTSTANDING find. This place is incredible, a total gem.
I think we went by there at least once, if not twice, everyday! We tried lots, from the gelato, to the pastries, the bomba, and the patisserie. All of this was of the highest quality. Not only that, the staff were also incredibly friendly and helpful, especially considering we did not speak Italian! The queue in the mornings and the evenings is not surprising considering the quality of the products produced. Moreover, this is not a long wait by any means.
The gelato - the place offers a variety of flavours, of which I believe I tried over 6. The pistachio gelato from here was my absolute favourite I had while in Rome, and I tried this flavour from a couple of other places too. The waffle cones were tasty, and the staff really did go the extra mile here. For instance, offering a taste test of gelato before purchasing, and making a whole new cone if one broke slightly when scooping the gelato!
The pasties - my friend and I tried a range of pasties, including the croissants filled with pistachio, lemon cream, and chocolate. All of these were so fresh and crispy, they could of done with slightly more filling though due to the quality of the pastry itself this was not a problem! My favourite pastry was the maple pecan plait, and my friends the pain au chocolat.
The bomba - my oh my. This was my first time having a bombolini and it was absolutely incredible, one of the top 5 things I ate while on this holiday. I went for the chocolate bombolini, twice. The dough was incredibly fresh and soft, and the filling - holy moly. Not only was this more than generously filled, putting "filled" doughnuts in the UK to absolute shame, the quality of the chocolate was not comparable to anything I have had before. Absolutely incredible - I would travel all the way back to Italy just for this bombolini.
The patisserie - I only had the stomach space to try a few of the small patisserie Fattori had to offer. These were very enjoyable, particularly the small pistachio bite and strawberry cheesecake bite. The cannoli filling was an incredible sweet ricotta, thought the shell was not crunchy (I had this in the morning one day and the evening of another, and this was the same both times). Nevertheless, the product was still incredibly tasty.
I could not recommend coming here enough - the friendliness of the staff, the buzzing atmosphere, and the quality of the products produced is incredible. A total hidden gem down a tiny...
Read moreEccellente! After 16hrs flight from Australia, I landed in Rome and our first stop was this lovely cafe where I had an amazing grain sandwich with aubergine and fresh mozzarella cheese that they offered me toasted and a very yummy and intriguing croissant with ricotta cheese and cinnamon! Yummy 🤤 I loved the food, service was quick, staff was smiling, friendly and polite and all the Italians out there were so laud but funny to see them all on a sunny Sunday just chilling there, smoking their cigarettes and having the best time! They also offered a good selection of ice creams, yogurts, fresh juice and so much more. Loved it! You guys nailed it! That was a great welcome to...
Read moreIs it Italian hospitality? We entered the store. We were so confused and amazed about everything that was happening. So many different ice creams. And gentleman behind counter was so kind and helpful that he offered us to taste every single ice cream before we buy them.
And so many pastries…. Delicious!
They also have some main dishes, but we didn’t try them. Our aim was ice cream and Affogato.
Ice cream really tastes like it is labeled: espresso tastes like espresso, mango like mango, and so on and on.
Greetings...
