We spent two weeks in Italy and Hostaria Po was one of the best meals of our entire trip. Located in a residential neighborhood away from the throngs of tourists, Hostaria Po offers a unique menu, traditional Roman dishes with some respectful reinterpretations that are a delight! Our sever, Vicenzo, took the time to ask about what we wanted and then built a mini tasting menu on the fly. Appetizers of caponata, caprese salad, fried anchovies and house made focccacia with the best olive oil in Italy were paired with a crisp and refreshing organic white (we had excellent wine pairings with each dish). Second course was half portions of caccio e pepe with a delightfully light and fresh home made pasta and diced crudo topped with lime zest, a perfect counterpoint to the richness of the dish. Final course was two dishes: perfect grilled octopus atop sautéed potatoes with diced tomatoes and red onions and a completely unique pork dish (perhaps prepared sous vide and then seared?) with roasted red peppers, orange slices and fresh basil accompanied by a cool yogurt sauce—each bite was a symphony of flavor. Dessert was a marvelous pistachio soufflé filled with a pistachio foam and macerated cherries along with a great interpretation of tiramisu. Vincenzo hooked me up with a grappa one-two punch—a snifter of white grappa to which dark grappa was added, served atop a wine glass filled with hot water that gently warmed the drink. A delightful room, great service, fantastic food and an owner who cares deeply about the...

Read moreI was so lucky to happen upon this wonderful restaurant on a Monday night. I was able to get a table by myself as a walk in. The dining room was very clean and nicely set up. The service was absolutely professional and felt like fine dining. The food (artichoke salad, ravioli with green vegetables, sea bass, and a digestivo with a cannolo for dessert) was perfectly executed and gorgeously presented. The best part, though, was the music. No ambient acoustic covers here! It was a playlist of classic rock by the original artists. I couldn’t help but bop along as I ate my dinner. The waiter and manager were very kind and accommodating and made sure I enjoyed every part of my four course meal. I’ll come...
