My wife and I have passed by this caffè many times but never stopped to try it until this morning. It is one of those local italian caffès that have been around for years without much change offerinf coffee, pastries etc and is extremely popular with local community. I expect is a place where families continue to frequent the place one generation after the other. It is not cheap so I am guessing most frequented by the upper middle-class +. Having said all that the environment is pleasant but was not outstanding. We just had coffee - a long espresso for me and a cappuccino for my wife. A simple enough order for a very traditional Italian caffe right? Well the presentation was nice but the quality of the coffees was extremely disappointing - especially given we were paying over 2 times the price you would usually pay in other local caffès. No need ro return there but good luck to them and their enthusiastic clientele...
Read moreAbsolutely incredible experience at il Cigno! This charming little bakery on the outskirts of Rome is a hidden gem. Their sandwiches are simply amazing—fresh, flavorful, and made with such care. The wine selection was spot-on, but what truly set this place apart was the warm and welcoming service. As foreigners, we felt right at home.
The staff went above and beyond, surprising us with free samples of sandwiches and treats as we ordered more. It was like a culinary tour of Italy in one spot! We discovered so many new flavors, including caper flowers—an incredible discovery that tastes like capers but offers a unique twist.
Every bite was a delight, and the genuine hospitality made it an unforgettable experience. If you're near Rome, do yourself a favor and visit il Cigno. 100% recommend!
Come stranieri, ci siamo sentiti subito a casa.
Read moreIf there were even less, I would give it... It seems to be as an high class café so they take 4.5 euro for cappuccino and cornetto. The cornetto is dry. When you try to seat outside (not a garden or luxury, just fenced chunk of the street which haven't been cleaned for a long time) the waiter blocks you with his body and demands extra 5 euro just to seat. Above all that (actually before)- a rude behavior of the waiter to the street sellers who try to supply...
