Mattarello Parioli — Restaurant in Rome

I spent a week in Rome and ate all my meals at restaurants, this is one of the ones that stands out in my memory. It did not feel very touristy, many locals were also eating there. I was very impressed by both their pizza and home made pasta. My two colleagues and I ate their twice and in our opinion the best dish was the creamy pesto with home made fettuccine, simply excellent. I also had a chickpea soup from the Tageskarte (daily menu) which was also very good, I can say the same for their simple but very tasty pizzas.

Even though no one in our party spoke Italian the staff was very helpful. He even used his smart phone to show us pictures and translations foods and ingredients he could not translate. Not everyone does that. With a generous tip we three spent 42 Euros, including at least two bottles of water, so the Preis Leistungs Verhältnis (cost benefit ratio) was in my opinion very high.

It was right next to our hotel and we missed it the first few days, never again! It does get busy later at night so make a reservation or go early (18 – 19 Uhr). If I am ever in Rome again I will make it a point to go here again. They have a buffet once a week which we missed, but I would bet...

I am under pressure from my wife! The staff who served us today... 1 guy... terrible. No knives and forks, wine plonked on the table with no grace - not even poured... not even a smile... food delivered with disdain... this destroyed my wife's experience here. She was dead upset because she was looking forward to it - good reviews and friendly (apparently not!) I am a different animal .. the service was poor, I will cede that point. But I argued that that should not drive the review... factor other data in... food was good but not outstanding. The pasta (fettucini) I loved. Was home-made, al dente and very enjoyable as was my wife's dish of grilled chicken. The table was completely lop-sided and I required two cutlery sleeves, well folded, to rectify. No staff support and they saw me doing it... We sat outside and the ambience is great, even with traffic so close... that's Rome! So wife wanted a 1 review... I persuaded her otherwise. If you go, get a waiter that loves what he does etc.. you...

This restaurant was located right next to our hotel and came recommended by the front desk staff. It was quiet when we arrived, so we had our pick of seating both indoors and outside, but when we walked by later that evening, it had definitely picked up.

The staff was very friendly, asking us questions, chatting with us, and making us feel right at home. We both ordered a pasta dish, and everything was very good with no complaints.

We enjoyed it so much that we came back again the next night. The staff were excited to see us return, and we ordered another bottle of wine and had just as lovely of an experience. The food, atmosphere, and service made it an easy favourite for us. We highly recommend stopping in if...
