AVOID. They brought bread to my table which I didn't ask for, nor ate. I ordered a steak which was expensive and came with no side dishes so I ordered broccoli and potatoes as side dishes. The steak arrived and the potatoes but no broccoli. The steak was hard to cut, chewy and fatty, I had one mouthful which I spat out because it was so chewy. I told the waiter this and he explained it was because it was a well-done steak. This was not the case, it was a poor cut quality of meat... for that price I would expect a rib eye or a fillet steak, not a chewy fatty cut. I sent it back and changed it for a dish that was potatoes prawns and tomatoes and onion. It was completely tasteless. Nobody came to ask me if the meal was okay. It contained around five prawns. I ate some of it because I was too hungry by then to be bothered complaining a second time. Myself and another lady git up to pay our bills, which we both had to get up and go to the counter to do, because they had left us both sitting there for a good 15 minutes after we had finished with no service. I was charged around 46 euros for that and a fizzy water. They had charged me for the bread. I pointed out that I neither ate it nor requested it. Then I asked them if they had charged me for the steak, because the bill was confusing. They told me that they had graciously deducted 50% of the price of the steak!! I explained that I wasn't going to pay half for something that I didn't eat. At which point he deducted the steak and the bread. So in the end I paid 31 euros for 5 cold prawns, boiled potatoes, tomatoes and onion (and some fried potatoes as a side dish which were the only thing that was good). If you want to pay a high price for poor service, poor quality food and be charged for things you neither order , eat, nor want , this is the place for you. I had a better meal yesterday...
Read moreDuring my recent visit to Raf restaurant in the Prati neighborhood , I was thoroughly pleased with my visit. The establishment boasts a welcoming ambiance, friendly and efficient service, and a good selection of wines and beers that cater to a variety of tastes. This restaurant is a reliable choice for both lunch and dinner, notably one of the few in the area that remains open continuously without restrictive hours.
For lunch, I indulged in a delightful cheese pizza, which featured a perfectly crisp crust and a rich, flavorful blend of cheeses. The fresh pasta dish was another highlight, showcasing the chef’s expertise in traditional Italian cuisine. The beef steak was cooked to perfection, juicy, and tender, satisfying even the most discerning palate. I also enjoyed the recommended starter, suppli, which were crispy on the outside and deliciously gooey on the inside—a true testament to the restaurant's commitment to quality.
One observation worth noting is that the bathroom is located downstairs, making it inaccessible for individuals with disabilities. Additionally, while the outdoor seating area is pleasant, the smoke from people smoking nearby can be bothersome if you are seated near the doors. Despite these minor drawbacks, the overall experience was highly positive, and the restaurant stands out as a solid choice in the Prati neighborhood for anyone looking to enjoy authentic Italian cuisine with...
Read moreWe came to this place for lunch on our last day in Rome as our hotel was just opposite to this restaurant and it was recommended by the reception staff.
The people in this restaurant were very friendly, and the food was great with generous portion. Service was efficient too. We ordered 3 pasta dishes and a starter dish.
The prawns with guacamole sauce was tasty, would prefer if it was served as a proper chilled dish.
I read good comments about the cacio pepe raf pasta on Google so I decided to go for the same and it did not disappoint me. All pasta dishes were very generous portions, but I finished the whole plate because it was so good.
My parents ordered a cod fish pasta and a tomato sauce bacon ragitoni. They are both good, we didn’t manage to finish as the portion was generous for us.
The service was tentative as they gave us small plates to share the food which is what Asian love to do all the time :) my impression of Italy has changed lately as from my memory, the waiters in Italy used to frown when they hear us asking for small plates.
But during my visit this time, everyone has been very understanding and nice about it.
I would love to come back to this place again and try other dishes. I regret that I didn’t get to try the truffle ice cream as I was too full and had to dash to the airport...
