That was brilliant !! I’m a painter and I felt in love with this museum and my sister has nothing to do with art and she allso loved it so much !! Especially the mirror room, just to take selfies. 😂 The audio tour was extremely informative and helpful . hearing the history behind his paintings was truly interesting. The staff was extremely friendly and very welcoming especially “Andrea” and his boss . The best part is The gift shop !! It has high quality prints and. I bought a lot of useful and cool stuff like a sketchbook , mugs , souvenirs , Pens , book , calendar and some gifts for my Artist friend. and everything was only €70 and it was really surprise for me so I told to Andrea to wait and a I brought a little statue of Leonardo actually we all laughed .😂 I was surprised of the price because last year in Picasso museum in Malaga I spent €270 so it’s really big different !

Read moreMy kids, 9 and 11, loved it. The museum has constructed the machines Leonardo da Vinci has imagined and drawn and the kids can touch and play with them. This includes his flying machines, automation machines and even a bicycle (made out of wood, probably not Leonardo's but his disciple's work). Remember, this is 15th century, 300 years before a bike becomes a reality. There are also reproductions of Leonardo's paintings, including Mona Lisa. I know they don't compare to the originals but the kids don't care. And, on the plus side, there are no queues to have a glimpse. You can follow an audio guide that has quite short, clear descriptions or just explore hands-on. They didn't want to leave, they wanted to go back the next day. And its steps away from the Vatican, so can be combined into the journey to that side of the river.
Well, guess what, we did try to go back and accidently ended up outside another Leonardo da Vinci Museum! It was to be! The member of staff advised that it was very similar. As we were headed back anyway, we tried this one too. Less of hands-on experience and the machines are smaller (and not all available to touch). My 9 years old says the second one had more information (more space, housed in a church, more information/video on the paintings) and the first one was more fun (hands-on). I think this sums it up. Go to the one that is closer.
It turns out there are three! Can only share my opinion...
