My husband and I have been travelling around Italy for almost two months now. This is the only restaurant that has put us into big disappointment. After reading the good reviews about this restaurant we have decided to give it a try. Most of the reviews are by the locals, so I guess the restaurant only celebrates the locals but not tourists. We ordered meatballs and wagyu for dinner. The meatballs were dry and hard but it was saved by the nice mashed potato. As for the wagyu, it was a big disappointment. It is written on the menu that it is priced at 10€ per 100g, so when the servers taking our orders we told them that we wanted 300g and both of them told us that minimum is 500g. We did confirmed with them if it is a steak before we order. We were shocked when the wagyu was served, it was a T-bone steak comes with huge bones and not a normal steak that come in a full piece of meat. The next thing is the amount of thick and hard fats that would not be served by any other good restaurants were put on the plates. Looking at the bones and fats alone, would have weighted more than 200g! I was shocked when I checked the bill. First, we didn't order water but we were charged 2.50€ for water. Second, one of the server passed by and placed another bag of bread on our table which we have already half way through our meal and we didn't even touched it but were charged 1.50€ for that. Third, the wagyu served were 700g instead of 500g that we have ordered. So, I told the server who passed us the bill that we didn't order water and we ordered 500g wagyu but not 700g. He took away the bill and took out the water but the wagyu remained to be 700g and asked to speak to the counter. A manager came to me and explained that the kitchen can't controlled when it came to cutting a meat. I told him we only wanted 300g but his staff told us minimum is 500g so we opted for 500g and the wagyu steak came to be a T-bone steak with many hard fats. He replied 'I understand my staff.' I asked him to check with his staff and he refused to. This is not our first time ordering a steak or understanding how a meat is cut. They should at least inform us before it is served if it is exceeds by so much after cutting. No butcher will cut the meat this way, you can either cut it smaller to play safe or in a minimal margin but not at a 40% exceeds. This is not right. After a long conversation with the manager the total bill remained the same. So I asked for a discounts as it wasn't a fair transaction. The manager said he will take out the potatoes that served with the wagyu that cost 13€. The irony is we didn't even ordered that potato. Anyways, I made the payment and walkout the restaurant with an even bigger disappointment.

This is such an amazing group of restaurants offering tremendous value, excellent quality of ingredients and unpretentious romance in its location. The Casette restaurants are located on its own piece of land, a small corner quietly detached from the city centre, that allows it to be extremely easy and quick to access (a car is necessary) while offering a complete separation from the hustling tourism usually around Rome. Evergreen trees, vividly colored shrubbery, the echoes of a nearby farm/sanctuary, and an almost exclusively local population make this quite possibly Rome's greatest hidden gem. The cuisine is typical Roman, uncomplicated, earnest. The Pizzeria is equipped with a Wood Fire oven and a capable kitchen team that are almost mechanically reliable in their delivery of perfectly moulded and baked pizza with prime ingredients. The final tally, - Margherita: 5/5 - A can't miss classic. Really lets the pizza dough shine through. - Capricciosa: 4.5/5 - Another Roman classic, this pizza is for those who enjoy variety in their toppings. Generosity is key here and they nail it. - Focaccia: 5/5 - with good dough, the rest truly comes very easy. - Mortazza: 4/5 - the burrata is almost unnecessary but still a phenomenally creative dish. - Spritz: 4.5/5 - Fantastico! definitely serving a greater amount of prosecco and bitters rather than tonic water. - Pistacchio semifreddo: 4.5/5 - Delicious. The chocolate glace is maybe a bit too syrupy but their nail everything else and the pistachio shines. - Limoncello: 6/5 - A kick to the face like no other, a magnificent way to end a night of great, great food.

Bellissimo fuori, dentro...
