I've had this bar saved on my want to go most for a long time as a lover of natural wine. The last time that I was in Rome was 2017 and this place didn't exist then. They have a good selection of wines and the food is interesting and slightly eclectic, like the wine, but I did enjoy it. The girl serving behind the bar and also the chef were very friendly, but who I think was the owner was very cold. I'm not sure if he doesn't like foreigners, but just felt very sterile and that he didn't want me to be there. I definitely wouldn't go back and overall it was an unpleasant experience. The whole vibe of the bar was off and just felt very unfriendly and not welcoming.
Edit Just responding to the owners response below. If the guy with the beard was just a friend, how come he was pacing up and down the bar every two minutes and giving orders to the girl. He was obviously visibly on drugs and not right in the head. By busy, you mean it was almost empty and half of the dishes listed were not available. Wow, you explained the wines and dishes to me, such great customer service. I've never experienced this before in any other bar or restaurant around the world.
Also in the original reply, which has since been deleted, they boasted about how exclusive one of the wines that I had was and that I didn't seem to know where I was. Talk about condescending and outright snobbery. Just because a wine is exclusive, doesn't mean that it is good, but I happened to like it for the record. Wine should be accessible for everyone and not just reserved for an exclusive...
Read moreI had the most incredible experience at Lorenzo's wine bar, Solovino. From the moment I walked in, Lorenzo's warm and welcoming personality made me feel right at home. He is truly an amazing host and a beautiful person, always going above and beyond to ensure his guests have an unforgettable time.
One of the highlights of my visit was when Lorenzo surprised me with a complimentary gift – a bottle of Pierre Gonon St. Joseph Blanc. This exquisite wine is one of only 60 bottles allocated to Italy, making it a rare and precious treat. Lorenzo's knowledge and passion for wine are evident in his carefully curated selection, and this gift was a testament to his dedication to providing the best for his guests.
Solovino is more than just a wine bar; it's a place where you can relax, enjoy exceptional wines, and feel like part of a family. Thank you, Lorenzo, for an unforgettable evening and for your generosity. I can't wait to return and explore more of your outstanding...
Read moreWe had the chance to assist a wine tasting where the owner Lorenzo (amazing guy) gave us a tour over the history, the craft and business side of natural wine production. It was a very eye-opening experience. We were so curious about natural wines and talked so much, that Lorenzo even went overtime for us. It is not your typical tourist trap destination. Lorenzo’s wines speak for themselves. This tasting, unlike a few others I endured, is not a marketing event. Besides the fact that you will not go back to drinking conventional wine after that, I warmly recommend the wine tasting to anyone open to trying natural wines! We...
