Taverna Abruzzese — Restaurant in Rome

UPDATE. I was in Roma last weekend in the sweltering heat and stopped here for lunch. We had spaghetti with clams (one of my all time fave dishes) and as usual the service, food and drink as well as the value for money were all EXCELLENT. Tnaks guys.

Years ago I lived in this area of Roma and I would eat here from time to time. The two brothers are always smiling and friendly and the food and service always REALLY good.

I visited Roma last weekend and we decided to visit for a Sunday lunch. We sat outside and took a drink with a bruschetta while we waited for the food. My pasta was EXCELLENT and my son had meat which he told me was also really good.

With drinks we paid 46 Euro and I think that represents great value....

Spesso mi domando se quello che scrivo possa essere d'aiuto ad altri. Non credo ci sia una vera risposta, perchè le emozioni in quanto tali sono pesate diversamente da ogni individuo. Quindi cosa potrei mai raccontare di nuovo che possa "convincere" qualcuno a sedersi a questi tavoli?! Nulla, perchè le emozioni he la tradizione di questo posto ti garantisce, è qualche cosa che non puoi non amare. Da anni (tanti, tanti), qui si mangia bene. Roba genuina, preparata e servita alla vecchia maniera. I camerieri (sono I titolari), sono sempre gli stessi, con la giusta dose di ironia, he ti invita a controbattere, e questo non puó che fidelizzare i clt, che sanno di essere a casa. Questa convivialità unisce anche gli avventori tra I vari tavoli, con cui ti allei per altre chiacchere. Tutto come una volta, niente sciccherie fighettine prive di personalità. Niente novel cusine (si scriverà cosi?). Qui si bada al sodo! Piatti buoni, porzioni generose che peccato sei satollo altrimenti ordineresti ancora. Non posso dire di aver mangiato il più buon piatto di spaghetti all'amatriciana, ma ho fatto la scarpetta come a casa, quando me la preparava mia nonna. La carne è ben cucinata. Siamo in abruzzo come da nome, quindi immancabili gli arrosticini. Non vi alzerete da tavola prima del dolce, e sarete contenti del conto (soldi ben spesi, e neanche molti). Non aggiungo altro, se non di prenotare, perchè nei posti dove fai fatica a trovare posto, ci sarà pure un motivo...

Superb food, we ate here twice during our visit and would go again if we stayed another day. Very friendly (but occasionally forgetful / busy) staff, cozy atmosphere both in- and outdoors (though keep in mind people can smoke outdoors), a large menu with decent vegetarian and vegan options (not indicated on the menu, so you may have to ask to be sure). Everything we ate was delicious, but the gnocchi al pomodoro and tagliolini cacio e pepe were exceptional! And reasonable...
