Ristorante Vistamare — Restaurant in Santa Margherita Ligure

We booked a table at Vistamare for our one-year anniversary. I made the reservation online for 9:45 PM, filled in all my information, and confirmed it. I then called the restaurant to double-check and request a table with a view. They confirmed my booking under my name and assured me everything was set for 9:45 PM. Later, they even called to remind me about the dress code (pants, no shorts), which I fully respected — I was wearing pants, my wife was dressed elegantly, and we both came prepared for a special evening.

We arrived around 9:55 PM — only 10 minutes late — and handed the car to the valet. It took them 10 minutes just to take the car, and another 5 minutes before we reached the reception. Then, without warning, the hostess tells us the kitchen is closed. I asked for the manager, and he told us the same thing — that we could only go to the bar and not have our reserved table. This was our anniversary, and yet they treated us like we didn’t matter.

There was absolutely no mention anywhere — not on their website, not on Google Maps — that the kitchen closes at 10:00 PM. In fact, online it still shows as open. Even worse, there were two guests ahead of us who were let in without issue. We were well-dressed (my wife wearing Hermès, myself in Loro piana), yet we were refused entry to our table. I believe the receptionist "CARLA" was racist, and that’s the real reason we were turned away.

To make matters worse, our car was never even parked — it was still running in the exact same place 15 minutes later when we returned after arguing with the staff. They clearly knew from the start they weren’t going to seat us.

We were struggling to find a restaurant open to serve food at 5pm because most places open at 7pm, luckily Vistamare was open and we ordered the vegan sandwich and a margarita pizza plus a vegan macaroon dessert.
