Ristorante Liberty — Restaurant in Sassari

Walking around Sassari and feeling peckish we followed a promising sign for a restaurant that offered a ‘menu a pranzo’ or lunch menu. We were welcomed by friendly staff and given the menu in both Italian and English. The lunch menu consisted of a choice of 2 dishes out of 6, including water and coffee. We were served excellent food with pleasantly spicy notes. The Prosciutto crudo with grilled small onions and a blue cheese cream was savory with the tang of the blue cheese. The second dish a pasta with grilled squid and a pepperoncini sauce was just spicy enough to tickle the taste buds. My wife enjoyed roasted sausages on a bed of red cabbage and a grilled fish fillet. We checked out this restaurant online prior to booking. We were not disappointed from the moment we walked up. The ambiance, the welcome, and the music playing immediately put us at ease. It was like the perfect spot. As this was our first time in Sassari we weren’t sure what to expect. We were so pleasantly surprised. The food that was recommended was so delicious. The pace of service was exceptional. Not too fast, and not too slow. All of the staff were attentive to our needs, and seemed to know when to approach, and when to wait. Like a little cocoon in the middle of town. The ambiance was soothing, isolated from the rest of the city. The lunch menu at 20€ is an excellent compromise. We shared with a friend the courgette gratin, with a powerful pesto that enhanced the quality of the plate. The pasta was good, Al dente (of course in Italy) and tasty. The cuttle was good even if I don't usually appreciate it. The beef was tender and well salted. Maybe a little more coloration on cooking would have been appreciated.
