My wife and I needed a dinner place with a little break from all the delicious pasta we’ve had in Sienna… we found this little pizzeria and boy did it impress! Absolutely amazing pizzas (very fresh), extensive list of beveriginos (at reasonable prices), and the service was outstanding. The atmosphere is definitely more of a local vibe, so not the place if you are looking for a quiet date night where you look at each others’ eyes in deep affection. Having said that, definitely make sure to call ahead to make sure they can sit you, it is not the biggest place, but the staff will go the extra mile to find a place for you to eat good food.
Also, we tried calling the taxi back to our hotel for like 30 min, and we could not understand anything (it was all in Italian… naturally… since it’s the county we went to). Finally, we gave up and asked one of the waiters, he ended up being the owner, and he told us not to worry and that he will work on it. He called us a taxi and we got home safely.
Just looking back in our 4 days of Sienna, this is probably the most memorable, hospital, delicious, place I...
Read moreThe owner or manager saw me and my family sitting at the table and refused to serve us for a reason I didn't understand! They simply told us ‘we are fully booked and the table we sat is reserved’ when in reality no one had booked because I asked people around if they had a reservation and they said no they did not. The only reason I can think is that He heard us speaking English and saw two small children, I went inside and asked why we were being refused service, and his response was not clear, but I understood he did not like kids and people that are visiting or speaking english, he was shouting and trying to defend his decision not to serve us, it was very humiliating and with racist tones. This is my first terrible experience in Siena, or in all of Italy. I would never go back even if it is...

There is plenty of choice: many sorts of pizza, pasta and other Italian meals, but also a large choice of wine. After all, Du' Versi is (partially) a wine bar. The room was well-ventilated by three ceiling fans. The employees were pretty much fluent in English compared to employees of other Italian places. My only remark were the restrooms. The only toilet was hard to find, behind two sliding doors. Switching on the light switch was a challenge as well (it appears to have a motion sensor). Even the flush button made me raise eyebrows. There were two of them. (You should push the one on your left side, or your right if you're doing your...
