The restaurant may be good but the staff could be more emphathetic. Early afternoon, we walking by, most of tables full of guests, one empty table almost like waiting just for us. We just touched table chairs and heard loud and unpleasant "What are you doing?!!", we turned our surprised faces to the waiter and he said: "We are closed!", and walked away. Why all this negative energy passed to us? One thing is sure: we never ever visit this restaurant. Thank you.
The owner's response to my review was: "Good evening. I wanted to remind you that before sitting down at a table, even if it is empty, it is always good manners to ask for availability since you are not at home. Greetings Mark"
Another polite approach. :D Let me to be specific: We didn't seat, we just approached table and touched chairs. There are restaurants where is usual "wait to be seated", while there are is also plenty of restaurants where is usual to sit without waiting the staff (however we didn't sit) Guests need not necessarily know neither the seating rules nor the opening times of any restaurant All it's about that we just expected a polite "sorry, but we are closing soon", or similar, not a shout "What are you doing?!" ... I am aware of never satisfied guests always complaining of anything, but anyone is interested can easily see that I am not that kind of guest. My usual rate is 4-5* and I am also a top reviewer at TripAdvisor. My aim wasn't a revenge but a polite feedback to the Osteria's management. Thank you for...
Read moreWe were here on a dinner with friends. The place has an unusual layout; during the day this is a deli offering hot plates and sandwiches, during the evening a back room is the restaurant. The room houses no more than 20 people and if you're a small group you'll likely share a table with other people. The food offering is fairly typical on the standard menu, but what is really worth it are the daily offerings, usually handwritten on an additional sheet of paper. We got the duck; it was very well presented and superbly cooked. Service isn't particularly fast but they're super friendly. Do follow their recommendations as they never failed to impress. Price has risen a bit over the years, but so has the quality and it stays well below similar restaurants. They have a special arrangement with the Rocca delle Macie canteen which provides them the wine, those would be the recommended options. In short, a small, convivial place with a limited selection of very good plates for a very...
Read moreMy partner and I had the most amazing dinner here! Being our first time in Tuscany, we were eager to try steak florentine at some point on our trip. We had read good reviews from this restaurant and as you can see from the photos, we were not disappointed with our choice! The menu was handwritten and also included a lot of daily specials. We just couldn’t resist going for a full three course meal, so we also tried a pasta to start, a dessert to share afterwards and a bottle of local red wine. All was equally as good as the steak! The staff were friendly and seemed genuinely pleased with how happy we were with our meals. Hands down the best dining experience we have had so far on our road trip...
