Oro Di Siena — Restaurant in Siena

My meal was heavenly! Each bite was full of so many fresh, authentic flavors, I cannot begin to describe how much I enjoyed the meal. My mom and I tried this little gem- off the main path of the old downtown area of Siena full of so many Osterias to choose from- based on a lot of food blogs I read about Italy/visiting Siena. I am SO glad we gave it a try! We got there right at open for 7:30 because we had to catch the last train back to Firenze about 9:25PM and we know that everything here in Italy is at a slower pace than life back in Chicago. We told the Maitre-De Matteo about our train and he made sure to have us on time for it. At first, I was intimated by the chic atmosphere and charming presentation, candlelit only and with only 6 tables in the entire place. Once Matteo came to our table and greeted us, we felt very welcomed and quickly warmed to the sophistication. I was dressed in shorts and a black tank top- after strolling in Siena all day- but Matteo was so welcoming, charming and kind! He explained every delicious dish he brought to our table. I had the Tagliati special with a creamy red pepper sauce and local boar, with pecorino cheeses and so many wonderful flavors. My mom loved her dish of pesto gnocchi- all flavors were delectable! This restaurant is TRULY MAGICAL! We were recommended by a dear friend and prominant Chef in California who is from Italy and it did not disappoint. Every aspect of the experience was delivered with love and attention. From the moment we walked into the restaurant, we were given an experience we will never forget. I'm extremely grateful for the wine recommendation because it turned out to be the best wine we enjoyed during our 2-week Italian vacation, and we had a LOT of great wine! Each dish was lovingly made by hand and EVERY single ingredient was explained back to its source. Incredible! From the cheese, to the meats and of course... the pasta!!! The owners/ operators (Son and Momma) looked after us with extreme care and detail. The dishes were unique and unlike anything we had during our two week trip in Italy. Every bite was a dream, the flavors so deep with a level of sophistication I've never seen before. This is a dinner experience we will never forget. We are so grateful to the Family for creating this memory and we will certainly be back. In fact, I long to be back in that chair anticipating what delicious wine will come out of the bottle and magical flavors out of the kitchen. This is a place created from the heart and passion. I thank Jesus for the opportunity he's given me to know this family, working so hard for this amazing restaurant. I'm amazed to see the work of God in their lives through the restaurant which has become a place where people feel at home, secure and protected. The atmosphere inside gives you such comfort that you forget about all the rest, and it gives you a real sense of God's presence. The food is very detailed in every way and delicious and when you'll experience it, you'll see how food reflects the people who prepared it and in what they believe in. I do and will continue to encourage anyone to try it out and see all this with your own eyes, you won't regret it.
