Il Salotto is an exceptional restaurant that left a lasting impression on us during our stay in Siena. The food is simply outstanding, so much so that we dined here two nights in a row. On our first day in Siena, we stumbled upon the menu while walking to our accommodation and decided to give it a try. The experience was so memorable that we couldn’t resist returning the next night. Our waitresses were wonderful—attentive, friendly, and welcoming—adding to the overall warmth of the dining experience. I can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough. The dishes are incredibly fresh and evoke that comforting, home-cooked feeling, just like Nonna’s cooking. It’s hard to pick a favorite dish because everything we tried was phenomenal. I’m not usually a fan of carbonara, but when my partner ordered it, I gave it a try—and it was absolutely incredible! The portions are generous, and the menu offers a wide selection without compromising on quality. Grazie mille per un'esperienza incredibile. Alla prossima!!

Wir, zwei Personen, hatten dort gegessen. Der Kellner war sehr freundlich. Die Vorspeise, die typischen Nudelgerichte waren soweit gut - und für den Preis bei der Lage auf jeden Fall okay. Leider waren die Hauptgänge nicht so gut, vor allem mein Beef war sehr zäh und knorpelig. Für den Preis von 18€ - bei der kleinen Portion - hätte ich mir ein halbwegs essbares Steak gewünscht. Bei der Reklamation bei der Kellnerin war diese sehr abweisend. Sie nahm die Kritik erst nicht zur Kenntnis, meinte dann „es war mein persönlicher Geschmack“. Da wundert es mich, da ich häufig - auch in Italien Beef gegessen hatte. Diese schlechte Qualität hatte ich noch nie. Wäre die Kellnerin etwas (!) einsichtig gewesen, wäre ich zufrieden gewesen und würde nicht diese Bewertung schreiben. Aber 10 Minuten mit dem Gast zu diskutieren und keinen Fehler (ein Stück Fleisch ist ein Naturprodukt, es kann immer etwas schwanken) einzusehen, geht gar nicht. Zumal der Service sehr selten bei den Tischen draußen war. Auch andere Tische neben uns (zwei) hatten sich über die lange Wartezeit beklagt. Das geht gar nicht. Wir waren mittags in der Stadtmitte von Siena besser und günstiger essen, trotz zentralerer Lage. Wir empfehlen dieses Restaurant leider nicht. Es war die 73 € absolut nicht Wert.

Expensive but a nice oasis in the middle of this town. I wanted a break from the 3p's (pizza, pasta, panini) and this little restaurant offered just that. Tucked in a side street, in the shade with a little breeze, away from the tourists, quiet, with kind service and creative dishes. Definitely recommend, if you are willing to pay 10eur for appetizer and 15-20 for a main dish.

Food is average. Nothing special. The surprise comes with the check. They overcharged me for a glass of wine. When I pointed out the mistake, the girl at the counter told me that since they didn't have the wine that I had ordered, they gave me a more expensive one (really!?!?). No, they didn't ask me if I wanted a different one and they didn't even mention it during the service. This has never happened to me before. And she said that as if it was the most normal thing in the world. This is clearly a rip-off strategy for tourists.

There are many better options for food in Siena and, especially, more honest. It's not about the money, it's about the attitude. stay away from...

KEEP WALKING! Not good. If there is a mostly empty restaurant at lunch time, keep walking. My husband and I each ordered a pizza. First they both came out undercooked. We sent them back and they came back much better, until we tasted them…you can tell they use cheaper ingredients and their sauce and cheese were tasteless. Hard for a Diavola ( spicy salami) to have no flavor. My husband is from Italy and he was extremely disappointed. We each ate 2-3 bites and left the rest. The server was nice but offered us nothing.
