Lunch on Monday 26 May 2025 What a wonderful day! Sunny and warm with a moderately strong breeze keeping you cool. One bottle of water, one half litre of good white wine at €6, one Pasta Spirduta at €14 and one Trancio di Spada (a swordfish steak on a bed of salad including cherry tomatoes) at €15.00 each cost €42.50. And we got a discount for being regulars. Again!

Dinner on Saturday 24 May 2025 Very windy today so the outside seating area was protected by very effective screens. One bottle of water, one half litre of good white wine at €6, one Caponata to share at €7, one Burrata e Bietole (with Mozzarella instead of Burrata as they had run out of Burrata) at €11 and one Pasta Maniace Completa (pasta with clams, spicy sauce and chard) at €18 cost €49.50. And we got a discount for being regulars. Again!

Lunch on Thursday 22 May 2025 No seats outside as there was a reservation for SEVENTEEN people! One bottle of water, one half litre of good white wine at €6 and two Trancio di Spada (a swordfish steak on a bed of salad including cherry tomatoes) at €17.50 each cost €48.50. There were several other occupied tables inside (Bulgarians, Italians and Japanese) but one waitress and one cook dealt with everything! And we got a discount. Again!

Dinner on Tuesday 20 May 2025 We met Alessandra again and did the Italian kiss on both cheeks greeting! Two half litres of goos white wine at €6 each, one mixed salad at €5, one Caponata at €7, one Burrata e Bietole at €11 and one Pasta Spirduta at €14 cost €54. Lucy fed a cat swordfish, I joked about not losing weight on holiday and we got a discount!

Lunch on Monday 30 September 2024 Our last lunch this Autumn and our fourth visit to this restaurant! One bottle of water, one half litre of lovely white wine at €6, one amazing Burrata e Bietole (a soft Italian cheese with lots of leafy greens or chard) to share at €12, one beautifully prepared large Trancio di Spada (locally caught and freshly cooked swordfish = YUM) at €21 and one Maniace alle Vongole Simplice at €17 cost €60. We chatted with the same (perhaps the only) waitress and amused each other with my Italian and her English! We did Italian kissing on the cheeks and promised to return in May next year.

Lunch on Sunday 29 September 2024 A little bit cooler today (28 rather than 34). One bottle of water, two half litres of lovely white wine at €6 each, one amazing Burrata e Bietole (a soft Italian cheese with lots of leafy greens or chard) to share at €12, one beautifully prepared Trancio di Spada (locally caught and freshly cooked swordfish = YUM) at €15, one Caponata at €7 and one Patate Fresche a Spicchia (fried potato wedges) at €6 cost €55. I had a chat with an Italian man at the next table who had rescued my hat and he laughed (in a good way) at my reasonable attempt to speak Italian. I also had a chat with our waitress and told her that we would return tomorrow for a FOURTH time in one week! We travel to Ortigia for a week two times a year and we have never eaten at the same restaurant four times in one week

Lunch on Friday 27 September 2024 We were welcomed by name and offered any table we wanted. We sat outside in the strong sunshine but we were protected by huge umbrellas and cooled by a brisk breeze. One bottle of water, two half litres of lovely white wine at €6 each, one amazing Burrata e Bietole (a soft Italian cheese with lots of leafy greens or chard) to share at €12 and two beautifully prepared Trancio di Spada (locally caught and freshly cooked swordfish = YUM) at €15...

We just visited this restaurant. We had a reservation at 7pm for 4 people, and arrived early at 6.30pm. Online hours says that is the opening time, but it was closed until 7pm. No matter, we await our reservation in the outdoor area as we are early.

At 6.45pm, a bag of mussels is delivered to the restaurant where it sits outside the door on the floor in the hot weather. Slowly the waiters showed up at 7.05pm, at which point the mussels are finally taken inside.

At 7.15pm they tell us that the owners are not available and therefore we cannot order food for at least 30 minutes, with no confirmation that it wouldnt be later than that.

We also were sitting at a table outside, with no one else at the restaurant. In the midst of all this (7.20pm by this point), we are told that the table we are sat on is for 6 people not 4 people and were asked to move tables.

Bear in mind there is no one else sitting in the outdoor seating, and this restaurant is not able to even serve food at this point. Terrible service,...

The food was fine. They have a selection of unique dishes (e.g. horse meat, boar, veal, a sausage from a baby cow with a very unique taste, et cetera). They also have a special tiramisu where you add the coffee to the dish, which means the tiramisu has a very strong coffee flavour (I personally was not a fan, but my girlfriend really liked it - it was better than the other tiramisus she tried so far). The broken cannoli was a bit disappointing and felt a bit 'cheap'.

The staff was nice, attempting to speak English and being helpful and friendly. The atmosphere was nice; you could talk nicely, there is some nice background music (covers of famous songs), there was a good AC, there are fireworks over the bridge around the corner outside (:P).

Be aware; you get charged five Euros for using the glasses on top of paying for the drinks (or do you get charged five Euros for using any of the cutlery, on top of...

Like many reviews suggest, this restaurant is truly worth a visit and offers an authentic dining experience. After trying several places in Syracuse and leaving disappointed, we finally discovered this gem. On our first day, we ordered the swordfish steak and pasta alla Norma, and both dishes were fantastic—bursting with flavors and expertly prepared. The following day, I couldn’t resist ordering the swordfish steak again, while my partner enjoyed the pasta with sausage, which was equally impressive. To top it all off, we indulged in the tiramisu. I’ve never been a big fan of this dessert, but here it was completely transformed; it was the best I’ve ever had. The service was friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome throughout our visit. I would come back anytime! Highly recommend for anyone seeking authentic Italian cuisine.

My wife and I had the pleasure of dining at this charming restaurant conveniently situated near the bridge to Ortigia, just off the main tourist path. Its corner location boasts delightful outdoor seating, offering an idyllic view. We were warmly greeted by the mother-daughter duo who run the establishment, and their impeccable service was commendable. Both of us savored the Pasta alla Norma, which was exquisitely prepared. To conclude our meal, we shared a Tiramisù. I must emphasize, it was the finest I’ve ever tasted, especially with the rich, hot coffee elegantly poured over it at our table, enhancing the dessert’s flavors with a delightful bitter note. In summary, our visit was undeniably a five-star experience. We wholeheartedly recommend this gem to anyone seeking an authentic Sicilian culinary experience in a quaint setting.

The fresh pasta with swordfish is excellent, but the service is very slow. At times, we felt forgotten, even though the restaurant wasn’t busy. After waiting 20 minutes for our fish and asking about it, we were told it needed to be cooked slowly—something that could’ve been communicated upfront. We ordered a dorada, said to weigh 800g (though likely less than half of that in actual meat), and paid €56. It was just okay—not particularly flavorful, and the skin was burnt. In short: worth stopping by for the fresh pasta, but only if you have plenty of time to spare.
