Pizzeria Vecchia Taormina — Restaurant in Taormina

Inadequate service, 10 minutes until someone comes even though the place is not full, we come and they give us the menu, one person is taking our order another one comes and give us the menu right after we ordered and speaks something in Italian even though we said we don't understand Italian. The way they put the dishes, the cluttery is like they are disgusted to do it. The salad I ordered is just ridiculous, 80% onion, some tomatoes (15%) and cheese(5%). Not to mention the tomatoes are the first ones without any taste I had in Italy overall. Aperol spritz doesn't taste like they followed the recipe and the proportion was not correct for sure, too much aperol, too little spritz. Overall, the only good thing I got from this place is the view ;)

P.s. I ordered beer that never came but it was in my bill, I had to remind them it never came so they take it out from the bill. Also they didn't say bye at all,...

There were a lot of wasps outside, and to make it worse, a burning coffee was placed right next to our table – apparently to repel them. The smell from it was unbearable, it made us feel sick, and the smoke even left a bad odor in our hair.

We ordered lasagna to try, and it arrived suspiciously fast. It was immediately clear from the top that the dish wasn’t fresh – just reheated. Parts of it were still cold inside.

Soon after getting the food, we had to change seats because dozens of wasps kept flying around our plates. It was impossible to enjoy anything.

No bread or any appetizers were brought before the meal, yet service was included in the bill. Given the poor food quality and the stressful atmosphere with all the wasps, including the service charge felt completely inappropriate.

Went for lunch yesterday having just arrived in Taormina and LOVED it. We went because they had cheese free pizza and it didn’t disappoint. The pizza was incredible and the service good. We thought we’d probably go every day during our stay in Taormina.

We went back at lunch time today and had a completely different experience. It was much busier than yesterday. They had different servers and one was just plain rude. We must have waited 45mins for our pizzas and when they arrived we still didn’t have our drinks. We ordered them again and they took another 10mins. The pizza wasn’t as good as yesterday and we waited about 20mins for the bill. In summary I’d say it’s good when they are quiet but lacking when...
