Fantastic experience and a great staff that takes pride in serving great quality food and great wine.
Just off the busy main street you'll find this gem at the gates leading out of the old town. Very cosy atmosphere and a great location.
Very attentive staff makes you feel right at home and the daily menu is extremely inviting, with some really great signature dishes a la carte as well. We had a hard time deciding, but not because the menu was too big, simply because the offers all seemed interesting.
Started off with a decent seared tuna dish followed by octopus with porcini mushrooms and a raspberry vinaigrette, which was sublime. A well composed dish which shows the quality of the chef at work.
We were presented with a high quality catch of the day menu were each of the available choices were displayed. Not sure if I like that way of handling fresh ingredients, but it showcased the attention to quality the restaurant has. We went for a local white fish, salt baked, and it was simply the best cooked fish I've had, but the garnish was underwhelming. The level of the fish made me not care though and if this wasn't a Google review I would use two pages to praise the quality of it. Simply amazing!
This is a seafood restaurant and this should be the focus of your meal, but we also tried a beautiful lamb dish sourced from organically raised animals from the South of Sicily. So tender and beautifully grilled it showed that the kitchen really knows how to handle quality ingredients.
We were recommended a stunning bottle of grillo and also got a glass of beautiful nerello masalese for the lamb. They also treated us to a nice digestive of amaro after the meal.
Nothing can be faulted except maybe a bit more attention to detail in regards to the garnish. The beans served with that spectacular fish were a bit grey and underwhelming, so I would love to see some more attention to detail there.
I was blown away by the quality of this kitchen and the staff did their job astonishingly. One small mix-up was quickly and professionally corrected and I wish I could have had room for all the dishes they provide. Especially the lobster, which we didn't find room for, but looked amazing.
We payed 100 euros each for high quality wine and as much food as we could handle and it was all well worth it.

On our final evening in the enchanting town of Taormina, we wanted a dining experience that felt truly special—something that captured the spirit of Sicily and left us with a lasting memory. Osteria Rosso Divino delivered that and so much more.
Tucked away on a charming side street, this beautiful restaurant had been highly recommended by our Italian travel agent. Even without a reservation, we were greeted with warm smiles and gracious hospitality, and seated right away—a gesture that instantly made us feel at home.
Soon after, a lovely woman approached our table with the kind of warmth and enthusiasm that can’t be faked. She carefully walked us through the day’s offerings, painting each dish with such vivid detail and passion that we found ourselves hanging on every word. We ultimately chose the fresh red snapper—expertly prepared two ways. One half was dressed with golden toasted breadcrumbs and a delicate hint of orange citrus; the other was served Sicilian-style with olives, sweet raisins, sun-ripened tomatoes, and fresh aromatic herbs.
The result? Absolute perfection. Each bite told a story—of sea, sun, and tradition. The flavors were bold yet balanced, deeply rooted in local heritage but executed with a level of finesse that spoke to true culinary artistry.
To our surprise and delight, we later discovered that the woman who had so eloquently described the menu was in fact the owner. That revelation added an extra layer of heart to an already beautiful evening. It’s rare to feel such an authentic connection to a place while dining, but this was one of those rare, magical moments.
If you find yourself in Taormina, do not miss Osteria Rosso Divino. It’s not just a meal—it’s an experience. A true celebration of Sicilian flavors, heartfelt hospitality, and the kind of charm that stays with you long after...
Read moreBiggest disappointment in Sicily. Primi piatti are priced at €28-35 and for this price you get TINY portions. I wouldn’t complain if at least food was nice BUT it was so abysmal that I cannot even find words to describe it. Menu wasn’t the worst thing though. The manager of the restaurant (blond lady) was absolutely unprofessional and couldn’t accept any critics about the food or service. Food was mediocre, we were waiting for the main dishes for 40 (!!) minutes. When my husband complained in a calm and polite manner, the manager went absolutely crazy and constantly tried to shout over him saying we don’t understand anything in good food. My husband is Italian born on the Amalfi coast and we spend a lot of time there - believe me, we have an extensive experience eating out in good restaurants.
Food - mediocre Restaurant - pretentious Service - abysmal
I would suggest the owner to invest into training their staff as restaurant employees don’t know what customer service is. If you charge high prices, be well prepared to offer something more than spaghetti con pomodoro. Customer service is important, especially when Taormina is full of restaurants.
