Bottega del Grano — Restaurant in Tivoli

We came across this restaurant while searching for an early lunch between a visit to Hadrian's Villa in the morning and Villa d'Este in the afternoon.

As we were a party of 4 vegetarians/vegans, we were having trouble finding more than 1 or 2 dishes at most of the restaurants in Tivoli; however, with the help of our waitress and the willingness of the chef to make some substitutes, we found four different entrees that were delicious and unique.

Try their Panzanella! With their addition of mint, it was just heavenly...the hands-down best dish of our entire trip to Italy.

We also ordered three different pastas...each unique in their own way.

Would highly recommend to others searching for vegetarian and vegan options while in Tivoli.

P.S. They certainly have a full menu of non-vegetarian...

My wife and I have had two opportunities to dine here and both times we were blown away! The food is truly delicious. Their pastas are magnificent and you will not be disappointed. On our second visit, the place was extremely busy yet the staff found a way to accommodate us which we really appreciated. The star of the show for us was grandma Maria's meatballs. At first bite my wife (who is Italian) was transported back to her grandmother's kitchen and the memories of her meatballs and sauce put a Ig smile on her face. Bottega del grano mi ha delusa, avrebbe meritato indubbiamente 5 stelle per la sua ottima pasta fresca, buonissima davvero, ma dopo averci servito con quasi un’ora di RITARDO dall’antipasto i mie buoni propositi per un ottima recensione erano andati… Gentilissimo il cameriere Fedele, è stato molto bravo a nascondere il disagio e l’imbarazzo della nostra attesa, a cui abbiamo chiesto spiegazioni per ben 3 volte, di cui una, in cui siamo stati palesemente ignorati dall’altra cameriera… e il povero Fedele è intervenuto per “ulteriori spiegazioni “… “i piatti erano in arrivo”, eccetto per il fatto che gli altri tavoli (erano pochissimi, una tavola di 10 persone, un tavolo da due, e il nostro da 4), erano stati serviti molto prima di noi pur essendosi seduti dopo. Noi abbiamo iniziato alle 21:00, la pasta FRESCA, non meriterebbe tal nome vista la celerità del servizio, comunque, la pasta l’abbiamo mangiata alle 22:30 passate, e il nostro antipasto era esiguo, un piatto al centro di salumi e formaggi, 3 tipi di salsine, e 2 piatti di zucchine ripiene con la ricotta. Alle 21:30 erano stati già digeriti! Mangiare la pasta dopo un’ora è assurdo! Non avevamo più appetito, mi era calato il sonno e avevo freddo! Ah, ciliegina sulla torta: il mio piatto di pasta era stato probabilmente “smezzato” nella sua quantità con quello di mio padre, era davvero poco ( in allegato la pasta con pomodorini) rispetto agli altri piatti che erano molto abbondanti,i nostri sembravan esser già stati mangiati n’altro pò!
