Osteria Basico Todi Centro — Restaurant in Todi

Perfectly located in the heart of gorgeous Piazza del Popolo, with a refreshing breeze even during a very warm spell, we were looking forward to a memorable dinner. The service, however, was terrible. It took over an hour to get a waitress to take our order, and another to eat something. The food (when it finally arrived, and not at all at once, and they made us keep the same silverware used for the appetizers) was far from special; the wait, unbearable; and the waitress eventually apologized for the awful service, but right after tried to exculpate herself endlessly, which is both very Italian and very unintelligent. The owner was equally odd in his apologetic-yet-unapologetic behavior. To top it all, the meal was exorbitantly expensive. Avoid this place like the plague. PS. Rather than engaging in long and useless responses, the owner should eat some humble pie; pay heed to the criticism, and not just mine; and learn to run his restaurant. If not, it...

Avoid this restaurant. We went here last night. The food was nice but the service was something I have never experienced before. We arrived at 845pm. Finally, we ordered for 925pm. We ordered wine, beer and water. We asked and asked for our drinks and they did not give us our drinks until 1020pm. We sat for an hour without any service, despite trying to get the waiter’s attention. Lovely that they give you a smidgen of prosecco and a small taster of food but... waitress doesn't smile, the waiter poured our (bought) glass of prosecco and ran out at my partner's glass. I expected him to come back but he went to another table. When called and challenged he remarked that he gave me more than normal... well, I don't think so and, after a sigh he poured a bit more into my partner's glass.
