This was a wonderful experience and I highly recommend you visiting if you enjoy elevated food that celebrates local food, culture and flavours. The service and the wait staff were faultless, recommending the best wines. Special mention to Enzo who looked after us so well.
We ate here as a group, 5 of us had the seafood tasting menu and one of us had the vegetarian tasting menu. Firs ton appearance, if you walk around Trapani beforehand you will see so many restaurants with sea views and cuter terraces, so when we arrived we were a little skeptical. After our first plate of food this feeling was replaced with excitement and anticipation. Amuse bouche: revisited pane cunzato 1 gambero rosso: a speciality around Trapani and beautifully executed. 2 steamed squid carpacio style on top of cooked squid stew with almonds and pine nuts: this was my favourite as it was so different and nothing like I had ever had before. 3 tortellini with scampi and ricotta: this one was underwhelming after the delicious 1,2 4 fish couscous: more typical in Marsala, this was nice but did not work with the menu, for me couscous is a family style food and in tasting portions it just feels lacking. Also the stock felt very different to the flavours of the couscous 5 Seared tuna, this tuna was amazing, flaky, mostly raw, served with a veal sauce but I opted out of that and a red onion purée 6 this was another seafood dish with potato cream and fennel the favourite to the majority of our table.
The only constructive criticism I would make is that the vegetarian menu was lacking in variety mostly tomato based and very similar. They mentioned it would be best to give a day’s warning for vegetarians.
I fully recommend...
Read moreSo, I’ve been thinking a while about writing a review on this restaurant. I hardly ever write reviews but in this case I really think people need to know that they should not go to this restaurant. I read several bad reviews about this restaurant and I can now say that I completely agree with what has been written about the service, the food and the whole dining experience. We were a group of six, had a reservation booked months in advance and as we entered, the front lady looked at us like we didn’t belong in this place. This should have been the first warning sign.. The service was okay, not very attentive but not bad. So I’m not going to complain about that. But the food was a whole other story. Vegetables were not seasoned enough, sauces were cold, pasta was not al dente. It was just bland and boring food. And to be honest, after we ate the first overcooked pasta, we should have left. To eat soft pasta for that price is simply rude. We didn’t order dessert. And nobody asked if the dinner was good or anything.. they probably knew it wasn’t. So we paid and left highly...
Read moreWe booked this restaurant with high expectations given the reviews and the ratings. Oh boy! Were we disappointed or what..
Started the journey with absolutely shambolic and poor attitude from the waitress. When you go out to eat, you expect to be treated with respect and courtesy. It's clear that the staff at Osteria Il Moro need to work on their customer service skills. A rude and dismissive waiter can ruin an entire meal and leave a lasting negative impression on customers.
Furthermore, the food quality was terrible. This is simply unacceptable for a restaurant, particularly one that claims to offer traditional Sicilian cuisine.
Overall, I would not recommend Osteria Il Moro to anyone looking for a pleasant dining experience in Trapani. The poor attitude of the waiter and the subpar food quality make this restaurant completely unworthy of patronage. Save yourself the disappointment, the money, the frustration and find another restaurant that can deliver on their promises of good service and...
