La dispensa by boca — Restaurant in Tropea

We are so glad we stumbled across this little eatery!! The food and service were impeccable - we could not find a single fault. The menu is somewhat limited but I think this is better as the quality of what is served is an absolute 10/10. The menu showcases a variety of Calabrese foods and ingredients, all sourced locally in Calabria. The chef came out and chatted with us about the sourcing of meats and cheeses when we asked. I choose not to eat meat, but my partner loves it. We asked for “The Platter” for 2 people and when I explained that I wanted meat only for 1 person to the waitress, the chef came out and asked me if I was allergic, if I would prefer more cheeses etc to ensure we had exactly what we wanted. He even offered to put the cheese on a seperate platter to the meats if needed. They were SO kind and accomodating. My partner had ample meat for 1 person and I got extra cheeses and sides. We were so impressed by this as usually he ends up just eating my share 😅 We ended the evening with an amaro (bitters) which the waitress kindly went through all the different types and which ones she recommended as we had no idea.

My boyfriend and I made a reservation here for dinner during our trip to Tropea from Canada. It was our first time in Italy and Tropea specifically stole both our hearts. What I didn't know beforehand was that my boyfriend would be proposing moments prior to our dinner! It was the perfect end to our evening, after being so excited to be engaged, we had an enchanting visit here.

We heard La Dispensa by Boca was one of the best places to eat during our stay, so I made a reservation with Adriana. She was so helpful and accommodating, honestly the sweetest person I've ever met! ❤️ The food was absolutely outstanding and so fresh! The service and presentation was beautifully done and the atmosphere was magical. Fatima was our server and she was just so sweet and lovely, and we spoke with Pino at the end and he was so kind, friendly and encouraging. It felt like we were dining with family! We have never felt more welcome at any restaurant.

Please make sure you stop here on your trip to Tropea as you will not be disappointed! It was like coming home to a dinner with loved ones. We can't wait to come back, and thank you to the staff at La Dispensa by Boca for making our experience...

Cozy Vibes, Great Service, but Limited Menu Leaves Room for More.

Yesterday, I stumbled upon this little gem of a restaurant. It’s a small, cozy spot with a warm and inviting atmosphere. We paid €40.40 each, and let me tell you, the quality of the food was spot on—definitely a 5-star experience. The place itself has that cute, intimate vibe, perfect for a laid-back evening.

The service? Absolutely lovely. The staff were super friendly and took the time to explain everything they brought to the table. I’d definitely recommend this place for an aperitif; the whole experience felt just right, and I’d give it 5 stars for that.

But here’s the thing—despite all the 5-star elements, my overall rating is 3.5 stars. Why? Well, at the end of the day, I was mostly eating bread, cold cuts, and cheeses. There wasn’t much in the way of cooked dishes, except for some "patate e pipi" and a jacket potato.
