ALBIN’S RESTAURANT — Restaurant in Tropea

Inpolite, rushing service .. we got to albino’s restaurant for dinner on our last night in Tropea. The spot was cozy and we had had a good suggestion for wine from the stuff. The food was ok . Service was rushed as time went by, and plates were removed really fast. Since we had ordered a bottle of wine and a plate of local cheeses after our main course, we would like to enjoy staying and enjoy slow dining. Instead we were given the bill, and after minutes the owner came with the pos, to be payed, without asked. We asked him if we had to leave and why was the rush . He answered there was a couple waiting to get the table, because of a reservation (?). We weren’t informed upon arrival for any time restrictions on our staying, therefore why did we had to pay the bill,, without asking for it, since we had a bottle of wine unfinished yet ? It was so inpolite . The owner asked us where are we from , (!!!) and got an answer he deserved: “we are from Greece, and as you Italians like to enjoy our food, so why are you making it so rushing and inpolite? “. Dint’ take a direct answer…. Totally disappointed . Not recommended. Try one of the hundrents of other restaurants in tropea . Food is served in a better way and you leave...

Started out good. Wine selection was excellent..offered suggestions were spot on.

Food was OK. We don't expect perfection everytime; the best wouldn't stand out if that was the case. Most of the meal was pretty good. The slow cooked prawns were under done.

Problem started when (we're going to assume owners or somehow, people tied to the restaurant) showed up with their children. Please understand; our group is all about family, kids, grandkids, and all. But the staff attitude and interactions changed drastically almost immediately. Not for the better. And the worse part... the kids yelling, ignoring the adults efforts to quell. We were now eating at a daycare. Just wasn't acceptable.

Wait staff was great. Don't understand the internal politics, but some introspection is probably in order. We weren't the only ones...

Si sperava in una serata da ricordare, ma si è rivelata del tutto da dimenticare; ci accolgono dicendoci di ricordarsi di noi dopo esserci stati un paio di sere nel 2017, un buon inizio ma solo apparentemente. Antipasti: una porzione con 6 polpette di melanzane (niete di speciale per essere una specialità locale), ed una porzione per due di patatine e wurstel (ridicola, perché una delle due persone ne ha mangiate "un'illusione"). Una brocca da mezzo litro di rosato locale, buono ma non freddo al punto giusto. Dopo l'antipasto, portato al tavolo alle 20.45 alle 22.00 arrivano tre primi con porzioni letteralmente "da fame"; non sei dichiaratamente un locale di nouvelle cuisine: un aglio, olio e peperoncino, quest'ultimo sicuramente dosato a casaccio: la porzione, perché immangiabile é stata lasciata. Una carbonara, buona ma non certo da ricordare nella sua essenza, ed infine una fileja con salsa di pomodoro e 'nduja; in questo caso il sapore della salsa era del tutto sovrastato dal forte sapore dell'insaccato. Durante la scelta dei primi, a riguardo delle quantità ci é stato risposto che non erano particolarmente abbondanti, tranne i piatti esattamente scelti da noi. Una totale delusione!!! Inoltre una porzione di alici dorate, deliscate ma dalla consistenza stopposa e credo cucinate al forno e non fritte, perché la doratura della frittura non esisteva. La seconda brocca di rosato é arrivata quando avevamo terminato di mangiare i primi e mia moglie aveva completato di "gustare" le alici, e quindi ho chiesto di riportarla indietro. Il motivo di questo ritardo?! C'era molta gente ai tavoli. Quando siamo arrivati, c'era solo un tavolo con due persone che da lì a poco sono andate via ed un gruppo di quattro, arrivato dopo di noi. Da regola si gestiscono i tavoli e gli ordini in base all'ordine di arrivo della clientela. In questo caso ci si é proprio dimenticati di un gruppo da 4 che si è preoccupato di prenotare il pomeriggio alle 18 e poi viene fatto accomodare all'ultimo tavolo, lontano dal frequente passaggio del personale!!! Dopo un po' mi vengono a recriminare il fatto di non aver aspettato chissà quanto tempo perché avevano l'orario dell'ordine degli antipasti. Probabilmente però non sapevano a che ora sono arrivati i primi, il sottoscritto Si!!! Comunque una serata pessima con un titolare anche molto infastidito per l'accaduto, come se la ragione fosse stata...
