THIS PLACE IS ABSOLUTE RUBBISH! STAY AWAY FROM THIS RESTAURANT! IF I COULD DEDUCT STARS FROM THIS REVIEW, I WOULD! From the moment we sat down, we knew something was off. The waiter only asked one of us what they wanted to drink, and since we were a group of eight who wanted to share some pizzas, we asked if they could cut the pizza in slices, which they denied (???). The pizza was incredibly stale and tasteless. I cannot phatom how this place has got so good reviews here on google. The bill was written by hand on a piece of paper (tax evasion???) and they tried to charge us 12 euros for «service». When we asked what this service included, 3 of the waiters came up to us, seemingly very offended and angry that we even asked the question. They explained that the service was for the plastic table cloth, the glasses (which were dirty), the cutlery and the plates. When we refused to pay this service, (which we have not been charged in any of the other 7-8 restaurants we have visited here in Tropea), a man, who supposedly was the owner, came up to me, pointing his finger straight in my face, saying we had to pay the service before we left. I was left utterly shocked and appalled by this behavior. Never in my life have I or any of others in my group been treated this way. This completely ruined our night and so I am writing this review to strongly advise everyone that reads this TO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES VISIT THIS RESTAURANT! Currently praying we won’t end up with...
Read moreAs said here before, the waiters pressured us to order, seems like they don't have a system because 3 different waiters asked for our orders in like 5 minutes. The gratinated onions were already sold out (8.30 pm), we got the onions from the oven instead -super disappointing, tasteless, we had to leave them behind. Anyways, first the appetizers were served. Just canned goods and really not good. Mushrooms from a glass -ugh. We didn't even recognize the aubergine and just remembered it should be on this plate. After three minutes the pizza arrived. You really should know that they serve pan pizza, so definitely a different case. Anyways the pizza was so soggy that it was more like a soup. Also I think this was the only restaurant during our vacation, where no waiter asked us if everything's alright. Although they stood there the five of them in different groups (so many waiters for what?) several times in front of our table waiting for whatever. They even hang on the phone without talking to us once. Only time we were devastated to pay the included tip for the service where...
Read moreThis is not pizza, not the neapolitan nor the roman one that made italy famous. This is bread dough pizza, the dough is very thick, not leaven and difficult to cut; i didn't like the toppings at all, they were very poor, my onion and olives pizza had 4 olives and there wasn't enough onion topping (in a place like Tropea famous for its red onions i would expect a pizza full of onions) to overcome the flood of tomato sauce that covered my pizza. I literally tasted only bread dough and tomato sauce, which was almost uncooked. My girlfriend pizza was decent, though, she took the onion and olives with mozzarella instead of tomato sauce and it was way better, still far from being a pizza but tasty at least.
The location is good (overcrowded by tourists, but still nice) and the service is quick, the prices are fair for Tropea. I wouldn't recommend this place for the pizza, there are way better places around to eat a real pizza. If you want to try this place, order something else or at least order a pizza without...
