We ordered gazpacho as a starter. Gazpacho is normally a cold soup. This gazpacho, however, was a few side dishes in a sauce - and in my opinion should not be on the menu as a soup. Taste-wise, it was good. Then my friend and I ordered the spaghetti with seafood and capers. My spaghetti was hard. My friend's spaghetti was just al dente and fine. My friend, who tasted my plate as I tasted his, confirmed that it wasn't my fault. Surprised that we had both ordered the same thing, but my spaghetti was hard, I turned to the waitress. She pointed out to me educationally that this was not possible because both plates were from the same pan. Finally, the waitress said that she would offer to cook my plate again for me. Hungry, I accepted. She then pointed out that this would take 11 minutes. Since I don't eat hard spaghetti, this was ok for me. After 7minutes (so not 11minutes) a new plate of spaghetti came. And to my surprise, they were again not al dente, that is, not cooked to the perfect point, but hard and stuck to my teeth. Disappointed, I pushed the plate to my friend, but he couldn't eat them either, precisely because they were hard and stuck. The waitress told me cheekily that they cook spaghetti differently here. Even though I didn't grow up in Italy, my grandmother was Italian and I have relatives in Turin. I pointed this out to her. She said nothing more for a moment and then said she wouldn't charge me for my plate. Of course, everything was charged. This restaurant doesn't...
Read moreWe visited the restaurant on 13/11/2024 based on the good reviews. Unfortunately, our impressions are very far from the general enthusiasm. To begin with the tables, which are too small and too close to each other, unacceptable even for a fast food restaurant! The menu than lists: "traditional testing menu" for 37.50€ (minimum for 2 people) you get the impression that this is a menu for two people minimum. But not when you get the bill! It turns out that everyone has to pay 35 € without explanation. In addition, the desserts described in this menu are again included separately in the bill. These deceptive information in the menu could be swallowed if the environment, the service and the food were up to par. But when the waiter, passing by, throws your plate on the table, the chair rests against the back of the chair of the person sitting behind you and worst of all, when the food is far from the idea of a Michelin star. The vitello tonnato was OK, but for 4 days in Turin we had much better ones. Veal cheeks were a total disappointment. Well cooked but tasteless meat on mashed potatoes. To make a long story short. Food significantly more tasteless than restaurants without such high pretentions. Atmosphere, like in a bad fast food restaurant. Misleading menu information. I don't...
Read moreWe ordered sharing menue We began with gnummareddi, a dish of rolled lamb offal. Cooked to perfection, deeply satisfying.then , the famiole mushrooms were a standout. perfect seasoning made them the ideal followup The codfish with quinoa was Ok and The oxtail croquettes were a bold, comforting bite crispy on the outside filled with meltingly tender. It was indulgent without being overwhelming, showcasing the kitchen’s understanding of balance. The highlight of the meal was the special risotto the salty of this meal reminded me some nostalgia taste from my hometown called “kashk” (some kinda cheese)which was unbelievably perfect Creamy, perfectly al dente, and layered with complex flavors, it demonstrated Scannabue’s ability to elevate traditional Italian dishes into something memorable(if i wanna regenerate this dish I will add some sweetness like Saffron). The final dish, beef Wellington, was outstanding. The pastry was golden and flaky, encasing perfectly cooked, tender beef and mushroom which to my mind in would be more better with containing more Crema di funghi. The service was impeccable and staff who effortlessly guided us through each course. They also explained in English too and turning point was low cost of...
