Cannot recommend Il Pozzo highly enough! We stopped by for dinner (group of 5, no booking) and we're immediately seated outside on the terrace, and the following hospitality and meal was nothing short of spectacular, and exactly what we were hoping/looking for!
The whole team were extremely personable and attentive, whilst also respecting our space, and not rushing through drinks or courses.
The brilliant wine selection ensured we were well watered throughout, and the food (we had a mixture of pasta, meat, and then pudding) was absolutely delicious.
It was one of the group's birthdays, and the whole atmosphere, vibe and friendliness of the team (worth mentioning that it's a family business) were amazing, and really made the night special.

I cannot attest to anything else on the menu. But the vegetable soup was delicious! They even thoughtfully provided a small dish of grated cheese! I did not catch names, but the chef's son and daughter in law are at the front end of the restaurant and provided me with real dishes and silverware as there was no carryout containers for soup. I am so appreciative of this amazing hospitality in this beautiful town! Il Pozzo warmed my...
Read moreA great place to have some good food in Montepulciano.
We were lucky enough to be there on a sunny day and enjoy our lunch outside. I have tried their amazing appetiser called Uva gratinata al pecorina di Pienza and fall in love instantly. Never had imagined that oven baked grapes are my thing. My husband had the Malfatti della nunzi and it was amazing as well.
After that I had one of the best pasta al ragu I have ever eaten, the Pici al ragu rosso di chianina. For me the sauce was greatly balanced and the flavours were so nicely mixed with the pici that it made the perfect dish.
No dessert this time, but their pecorina cheese pudding sounds fabulous. Please, someone try it and tell me to go back to...
