Can't decide on the words to explain this experience. Read this if you are considering coming here, and you will get all the info you need. First of all, THIS IS where you come on your trip to Pienza. Don't bother looking around for a place with a view, you will likely be disappointed as you can either find a bar or a table rows away from the view. Instead, appreciate the greens and hills, then come to this restaurant for the perfect ending of your day. Located right at the beginning of the city center, this is a family-run restaurant that is a hidden gem. We came right in the opening time (19.30 they said) and got a table, soon enough the remaining tables were also occupied. The extremely friendly and authentic personel helped us with our order. As a family of four, we started off by their selection of cheese and their carpaccio (local ham) together with their recommended wine. Our waiter explained every type of cheese on the board with detail and allowed us a wider perspective. This was a very special experience, at least for me, as we got to experience how a cheese changes in taste as it ages. With the wine, cheese and carpaccio we started off already so good. Then came our main courses: their spinach/ricotta ravioli, spaghetti bolognese, tagliatelle with their local meat and pici. All of it was fresh and delicious, specifically the pici was great. During all of this service was satisfactory. I would recommend eating quickly as the nature of the home-made pasta causes it to expand and get mushy over time. Afterwards, we went ahead and ordered dessert. Both their chocholate/coconut cake and pinenut cake were out-of-this-world-delicious. By the end we were VERY full and unsurprisingly satisfied. And even though it may sound like everything stated above is on the positive side, I will clearly state now that this review is done as subjectively as possible. If anything I would say that the tagliatalle was our least favorite, even so it was delicious. The price was worthy of our experience there, and this place became our favorite restaurant out of all the ones we visited on our 2 weeks...
Read moreThere is nothing special in this restaurant. Prices are high regarding to the size of dishes (at the same price you can get the normal-size meal in another places and yoy will be full, here just the small "first" meal..). We ordered tagliatelle and got cannelloni, but anyway. Pasta was supposed to be "with vegetables" but vegetables here were only for decoration... just few shavings. So it was like a few pasta for 11 euro... We had to wait for a waiter quite long time. After meal we asked for a receipt and were waiting... several minutes later we just went inside to pay cause we felt a little forgotten.
Perhaps if you are their a frequent guest then you will be treated better, but if you are a tourist... better choose another restaurant.
The only plus was a short time of...
Read moreDuring our visit to Pienza, we dined at a local restaurant that offered a solid, though not extraordinary, experience. The food was good—well-prepared and flavorful—but it didn’t particularly stand out. While nothing was disappointing, there were no "wow" moments either. It was a decent meal, perfect for a casual dining experience, but not one that left a lasting impression. If you're looking for a reliable spot to enjoy a pleasant meal in Pienza, this restaurant is a...
