Caffè La Serra — Restaurant in Venice

This place calms you down, surrounds you with greenery, and finally serves you Italian coffee.

Most restos in town serve Julius Meinl to my biggest surprise, but this place — at last — pours Caffè del Doge in your cup, and guess what, it tastes so much better than that Viennese bullsh*t Julius.

We furthermore have got to acknowledge and cherish the atmosphere of this place, situated right beside a gardening store, benefitting so much from the wide open space of the park and the chirping of birds.

This truly is the best place so far to have breakfast at, to wake up slowly without the crowd and the crammed streets of the city centre.

To be frank, we took to the centre after our breakfast and I found myself feeling uneasy and annoyed at the people pushing through across the tight streets. I wished I could just run back here to Caffè La Serra and have another coffee and feed the birds.

As I’m writing this, I don’t really know when to finish, because I feel that my appreciation for this place is infinite. I adore to find such honest, spacious, and relaxed places, especially in pretentious, overpriced and « instagrammablly » chique cities...

--Atmosphere-- The atmosphere is great. The caffé is in a really lovely and gorgeous garden with an old but gold building. The whole building gives a vintage and cozy house feeling. You should definitely visit here if you have the time.

--Service-- Service was good and I liked it but I give 3 stars instead of 4 because they don't allow you to split the bill equally. Surely it is their choice if we are allowed to split the bill equally among customers. However it is my choice to deduct points from this lack of choice regarding the payment process. Other than that the staff was friendly and the service had no delays.

--Food-- I had just the right amount of coffee with my americano with milk on the side, however the amount of coffee was vague regarding their special recipes so my friends looking for some caffeine didn't feel like they had less coffee than what...

The staff only selectively speaks English - when you have to pay or when they tell you not to eat your own snacks or drink your own beverages, even though you've ordered already and are a customer. When wanting to order additional things, the response was that they don't speak English, even though you've pointed at the menu what you want - and will be back. They did not come back. Flies are everywhere if you're sitting outside. Iron chairs don't have pillows, even in October. Espresso is disappointingly small, even while knowing it's supposed to be small, this one somehow exceeded expectations in the opposite. Giving it one star feels too much,...
