Read moreThis is my new favourite lunch spot in Venice. We'd originally planned alla Rampa but it was closed for the holiday, so stumbled on this purely by accident. We came around midday & it was turning people away (politely) by 1pm. We sat aside with the heaters on a 6° day & it was fine.
I cannot fault the experience here. The server was the loveliest and friendliest guy, super polite, funny, and helpful. The wine selection is small but excellent.
Drinks We started with a glass of Prosecco & I had a glass of Amarone with my main - for 11 euro a glass, it's an absolute must. Divine.
Food We had the special of the day for starters - scallops in a delicious sauce that's slipped my mind - and the mussels & clams guazzetto style, which was an absolutely divine bowl of fresh, meaty mussels, delicate clams, & tomato, salty broth. Mopped up with bread, it was an absolute dream & a must.
For mains, we had the gnocchi with duck ragout, which was so soft, light & delicate, and the ravioli filled with beef shank & bone marrow in butter & sage. This is an absolute must and was divine, paired perfectly with the Amarone, light but filling, perfectly cooked and flavourful little parcels of deliciousness.
Veggie / Vegan Small but good options for vegans & veggies.
I could not recommend this place enough & I will 100% be...

The menu is very seafood forward, which I appreciated. There were tons of things we wanted but ultimately we went with: Scallops in their own shell: Plump, buttery, perfectly seasoned. And beautifully served Paccheri "Nevodi": The prawns were adorably hiding in these delicious noodles that I wasn't so familiar with. Delicious prawns they were! Purple gnocchi with scampi/scallops: I mean anything that has truffle on it will ultimately get 5/5 stars from me. I would eat this sauce on anything. Cuttlefish with polenta in its own ink: I think this is a super creative dish and many would love, but the texture of it and the taste of the ink was not my jam. The polenta was delicious, though.
Got a bottle of white wine which came with an adorable freezing bag.
Sat outside on such a lovely night, which is absolutely the way to go. The tables seemed cramped but really the service is so attentive they work everything out so you certainly don't feel cramped. The staff are clearly passionate about this place which made the overall experience just a wonderful choice. One of our best...
