Absolutely fantastic. Given the propensity of most European traditional food being meat based, we looked for somewhere vegetarian for a change and wow did we find it. First off, I love pickles so... Had to give it a look, and right near our hotel
The music was great; 70's English rock (Floyd, zep, the who etc) which then gave way to mid 90s alt rock (smashing pumpkins, pearl jam etc) So 5 stars personally for the musicđ we arrived as soon as they opened, so we sat at the bar, I had a Martin which was a fun but simple cocktail with kombucha. Very tasty. We shared nachos which were superb, with vegan cheddar. I would have liked some hot chilli spice, perhaps in a salsa or side option. With this we had a beer, I had a red German brew which was lovely, wife had the Italian pils; Trina. We then moved to a table downstairs (upstairs was very nice) and had a burger each, Mediterranano for my wife and I had The dark side, a tuna burger. The tuna was as strong in fish flavour as a really nice beef burger so was a bit odd at first.. but I'm really glad I had the tuna as it was so different yet very much the same as a normal beef burger. The pickles (of course) included matched nicely.
Fries were utterly perfect đ¤¤
We finished with the Sacha which was a quite thick chocolate sponge with toffee sauce and we chose the pear vegan ice cream, being vegan it lacked the deep cream of ice cream so was more like a sorbet which went perfect with the chocolate and the fruit side.
Excellent staff, very attentive and perfect English, which was great as our Italian is nonexistent. Really great price too we had plenty of drinks and very well fed for a very very good price. Hope these guys continue doing what they do and succeed as they...
Read moreThis was our last stop in Venice before heading back home â and what a gem we found near our hotel! The staff was incredibly friendly, and the food was easily some of the best I had in all of Italy, no contest.
Even though there are no meat options, the vegan and fish dishes more than make up for it. I highly recommend the âKrakenâ octopus, the pickled appetizer, and the apple cobbler to finish â all absolutely delicious. Everything is homemade, including the sauces, which are crafted in-house with fruit fermentations and spicy blends.
The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Our bill was a bit higher than average since we wanted to try several dishes, but it was absolutely worth it for such a wonderful meal and experience.
A recently launched spot (I believe it opened in March), but already worthy of a solid 5 stars. A true must-visit if youâre in Venice Mestre â you wonât be...
Read moreI've found finding vegan food in Italy a real struggle, so I was delighted with Pickles. Their mix of vegan, vegetarian and fish dishes will please a range of palates - me, a vegan, and my Father, an omnivore, both thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The Pickles themselves were a highlight, so refreshing!
Pickles has a delightful, upbeat ambience and the staff are universally friendly and helpful. I want to give special mention to our waitress, India. She was super attentive, warm and welcoming. She also went above and beyond by calling a taxi for my Father, who has mobility issues. We appreciated this so much!
Pickles is an ideal venue for vegans and vegetarians to have a more diverse meal in a fun, relaxed...
