Ristorante Ai Veterani — Restaurant in Venice

We went on the first night of our short break. Spotted at the end of a narrow street, we decided it was nice and quiet and the menu was in English and Italian. Staff were very friendly and patient with our lack of Italian. The food we had was excellent and even gave us a complimentary starter soup. We ordered 1st course of spaghetti with tomato and parmesan sauce, main of lamb medallions with sautèd potatoes and my wife had Tiramasu whilst I enjoyed lemon mousse. La Direttrice è stata una persona carinissima! Non ero mai stato in questo locale e lo consiglio vivamente, soprattutto se cercate un luogo tranquillo per una cena in pace. Un sottofondo musicale sarebbe stato la ciliegina a dire il vero, ma per ciò che concerne un sottofondo musicale è una questione di gusti. Il locale merita comunque una tappa obbligatoria. Piatti squisiti!

P.s vorrei far notare che la prima volta che vi ho fatto tappa, ho ordinato anche un secondo ma ho errato nell ordinazione perché i piatti cozzavano cioè non è buono ordinare primo di pesce e poi carne. Solitamente nei ristoranti quello che si è ordinato è definitivo che sarà servito. Invece la Direttrice a piatto ormai pronto, infatti il cuoco era ormai prossimo a suonare la campanella, la Direttrice senza batter ciglio l ha fatto ripristinare e ha accettato il cambio di portata come desideravo senza farvi pagare nemmeno rincari come spesso capita.
