The Tortuga Bar is situated within approximately 200 metres of the water taxi stop that takes the visitor from the main islands to those of Murano and Burano. You may be one of those people who feel a little hesitant stepping into unfamiliar places when in foreign climes. fear not, from first sight to stepping into the premises you will feel at home and welcome in very relaxed surroundings. the local beer is good and the food from the in house pizzeria is excellent. you can even see it being made and cooked as you wait. It is a family run bar and it will not take long to feel part of it when you visit. Being slightly off the city centre the atmosphere seems more relaxed and local and prices slightly less. We could have spent a lot more time in here. I think the photographs will give a flavour of what to expect from this bar with more than its fair share of...

This place is a hidden gem in the north of Venice. Close to the ferry stop of Fondamente Nove lies this small restaurant unexpected in a narrow street with a view on the waterway between Venice and Murano.

What they lack in space, they make up for with their food. In the 2 days that we were in Venice, we've had lunch and dinner there and had the real Italian experience. The pizza, lasagne and bruchetta were made with fresh ingredients and were very good from taste.

The hosts were very nice and they helped with recommendations, translation and served everything with smile. The price range was okay, the place wasn't cheap but definitely not overly expensive, especially for the quality of food and wine.

From me, a big recommendation if you look for the Italian...

Really awful experience, would not recommend. Pasta dish one, was hard in the centre of pasta so not cooked for long enough. Pasta dish two, was the worst carbonara I have ever eaten. Not pancetta and more with a thin ham. The pizza was also horrible, and we only ordered a margarita but it tasted more like a pitta bread in texture. Save your money and go elsewhere. Probably would be nice for a quick drink, but lacks ambiance. Waiter seemed more interested in organising menus the entire time we were there, rather than bringing the bill when asked. I would suggest a candle per table to lighten the dingey and what feels dirty atmosphere. And for the owners to review the menu, perhaps a smaller list may encourage...

Im giving two starts only because the fish soup was not bad… However the Penne with Salmon that I ordered was a total lie. It was simple pasta in sauce but there was no Salmon at all!! When I went to kindly express my dissatisfaction, the man (maybe manager) asked me “where are you from”? When I answered that I was from latinoamerica, he said: “oh yes, of course the problem is the language. In that moment I started speaking Italian and then he just shut up. Solution: they should explain better on the menu! Spaghetti with Salmon sauce! Instead of making people believe that the dish contains any amount of fish!!

LITREALLY NEVER GO HERE. i got canoloni it came out looking like someone vomited on the plate absolutely inedible, had to send it back so disgusting. When we told him we didn’t like it he asked why many times and even when we told him, he just repeated “it has lots of milk and cream” also restaurant has a bizarre pirate theme????? whatever. Gordon Ramsey would have a hard time sorting this place out.
