I googled this restaurant and wasn’t sure if it would be a great experience since it’s located in the historic part of Venice, which is full of tourists. However, it turned out to be a fantastic experience with a lot of emotions.
Without Google Maps, it would have been hard to find this place, especially in the evening. But to be fair, finding anything in Venice without Google Maps is a challenge. Since it was already dark, reading the café’s sign was difficult, and I was about to give up when suddenly, in the middle of a dark street, the restaurant appeared. While many nearby restaurants were half-empty, this small place was completely full. Luckily, just as we arrived, some guests left, and we were promptly seated.
The menu is not extensive, with only about 10-12 main dishes. I ordered pasta with shellfish, and my friend chose pasta carbonara. I’ve had pasta in different countries and restaurants, and I can say that this pasta was definitely competitive. Don’t expect fancy plating like in an expensive restaurant, but for me, that wasn’t important. The most important thing was that I enjoyed my generous portion to the last bite!
I really liked their pricing system—you pay a set price of either 15 or 18 euros, which includes a main dish (pasta or risotto), a drink (with an option to upgrade to wine for just 2 euros), and coffee (or tea/cappuccino). The staff was very helpful. My friend didn’t want coffee, which was included in the price, so they kindly offered her a bottle of water instead. The waiters checked on us a couple of times to see if we needed anything and even drew a cute heart on my latte.
Overall, I was very satisfied with both the price and service. I will definitely visit this...
Read moreI’m not sure why there are so many good reviews on this place. Maybe I went on a bad night. I got there around 6.45pm and got a table but by 7pm there was a line outside. My first problem was that I was seated at a dirty table (see pic). It took maybe 10 minutes before this was cleared away. Then another 10 minutes before it was re-set. It seemed the problem was that the 1 waitperson was struggling. This is a small restaurant with only 20-25 seats but the waitperson wasn’t clearing tables & taking orders quickly enough. This meant that tables weren’t turning over and the mood in line looked ugly. Unfortunately the waitperson got orders wrong too. I ordered white wine but was brought red. Another table ordered a wine and a beer but were brought 2 beers. Then he had problems operating the credit card machine. One poor couple were told many times their transaction had been declined.. They didn’t have cash and were getting stressed. Eventually they suggested trying it outside and the machine worked! I waited about 20 minutes for my drink to be served but my pasta was about a 50 minute wait. Everyone that came in around the same time had the same wait. People were complaining their children were hungry. I have to say that the food was not bad (I’ve never had squid ink pasta so not sure how it should be). You don’t get bread as in most other Italian restaurants. This place isn’t as super cheap as it appears. My pasta was 18 euro which seems average based on other restaurants. However you do get a soft drink & coffee for free and no cover charge (coperto). So you might save 5-7 euro but the lack of service more than...
Read moreDONT COME HERE! My fiancé and I were really hungry and found this place had one vegan option, we went in and it's one man running around after every customer in there. This means there were confused orders, drinks not being severed and then an expensive bill for ONE plate of risotto (which HAS to be eaten by two people). I sat and watched another table of 3 girls complain about being over charged and the waiter tried to wiggle out of it until one of the girls asked for a menu, the waiter then caved. My fiancé made our order of the vegan risotto and a lemon soda when passing to go to the bathroom. Our food took ages to come out to us and we were never served our drink. We finished our meal and didn't want to stay any longer in the environment so we went to pay. The bill was €36!!!!!!! The menu said €15 for risotto, drink and coffee... So why were we charged so much??? I don't recommend coming here... Just run past the shop. We later on enquired about the price and their response was "if you have time come back and read the menu". Their menu is online, on their door and given to you in person all the said €15 for risotto, drink and coffee. Also if you got this far just have a look at their one star reviews, same situation with horrendous replies...
