I absolutely love bar Puppa. During our first day here, Masud, the owner, was so kind and friendly. The place gives a very homey/friendly vibe. It’s very unique. I highly recommend the risotto squid ink. It came out very hot and steamy and was amazing!!! We loved this bar so much so we came back a second night and Masud remembered us. He made great conversation and connected us with others hanging out in the bar and we had an amazing night in Venice just getting to know him and other travelers. We met another couple and it was their 4th time going to the bar; that’s how much they loved it. I would absolutely come back to Venice just to hangout with Masud at Bar Puppa, you can truly tell that he gives his heart and soul to this bar.

We loved this restaurant. They offer a meal package which includes a main dish, a drink and a coffee. Price is 15/18 depending on the dish. The restaurant was so cozy and it is situated in a very calm place of Venice. The waiter was super humble and nice. Also there music selection was top notch. About the food we took the squid ink spaghetti which was very ordinary. We expected some unique taste from the squid ink but it tasted just like tomato sauce. This was our first time trying squid ink and we didn’t taste anything new. The shrimp tomato spaghetti was very good. It was on point and the amount of shrimp was adequate. Finally the coffee completes the meal and overall it was a very good experience

I’m not sure why there are so many good reviews on this place. Maybe I went on a bad night. I got there around 6.45pm and got a table but by 7pm there was a line outside. My first problem was that I was seated at a dirty table (see pic). It took maybe 10 minutes before this was cleared away. Then another 10 minutes before it was re-set. It seemed the problem was that the 1 waitperson was struggling. This is a small restaurant with only 20-25 seats but the waitperson wasn’t clearing tables & taking orders quickly enough. This meant that tables weren’t turning over and the mood in line looked ugly. Unfortunately the waitperson got orders wrong too. I ordered white wine but was brought red. Another table ordered a wine and a beer but were brought 2 beers. Then he had problems operating the credit card machine. One poor couple were told many times their transaction had been declined.. They didn’t have cash and were getting stressed. Eventually they suggested trying it outside and the machine worked! I waited about 20 minutes for my drink to be served but my pasta was about a 50 minute wait. Everyone that came in around the same time had the same wait. People were complaining their children were hungry. I have to say that the food was not bad (I’ve never had squid ink pasta so not sure how it should be). You don’t get bread as in most other Italian restaurants. This place isn’t as super cheap as it appears. My pasta was 18 euro which seems average based on other restaurants. However you do get a soft drink & coffee for free and no cover charge (coperto). So you might save 5-7 euro but the lack of service more than offers this.

Seeing both positive and negative reviews similar to our experience, I will try to be as objective as possible: - Price: Cheap for Venice, where most things are overpriced. Definitely a plus. - Food: The spaghetti we ordered was above average. Coming from the United States, I would compare its quality to Olive Garden (a fast food Italian style chain restaurant). Considering its price, its definitely still good, even though food quality in Europe is generally higher. - Service: Mediocre. I would not recommend coming here if you don’t have 1-1.5 hours to spare at least. The restaurant is small with only one staff. The server didn’t greet us or seat us initially. The wait for the server to order food was long. The wait for the food was long. In total we waited 40-50 minutes from coming into the restaurants and actually getting our food. I would still recommend this restaurant for a place like Venice. With both positives and negatives, I rate this place 3/5.

This place is ok at best. The main issue was the waiting time for food. We arrived at 6pm, the guy told us that the kitchen will be open at 6:30. We said fine and got some bites. At 6:30 we ordered the food. We got the food at 7:30 together with other guests who arrived around 7:10-7:20. Needless to say, they only started preparing our food at 7:10. I know that the Italian service is not world famous but ONE hour to wait for spaghetti?? They don't care about these reviews because tourists will ALWAYS come to Venice. As fo the quality: it was OK. That's it. Definitely not worth waiting 1 hour for it. When I was almost finished with my meal they guy thought about asking me if I want some parmezan. 15 euro per person for spaghetti, glass of wine and coffee (we asked for sweets instead of coffee because it was 8pm and we are not Italians). The bites were old but tasty.

No idea how this place got nice reviews. We visited around 11:00am. I was looking for a place where I could eat something small and go to restroom. As soon as I went inside, I said I want to eat something small and asked whether they have a restroom. She said yes. I ordered and then went to restroom. In front of the door, it was written as out of order. I looked at her and she said go ahead. It was very stinky inside.. And.. when I flushed toilet, the water came out from the floor…..!!! It was really disgusting.. Small snacks were microwaved and served. I really could not trust food here after seeing dirty restroom… she should have said that they have a restroom but it is out of order…!
