This was by far our worst experience of dining and food in Venice so far . The only good thing was the location dining underneath a nice leafy tree 🌲 and minimal foot traffic . Service was disinterested , no rapport at all . The 2 staff had no product or menu knowledge. They weren’t in sync the whole night , and didn’ t even know the name of the cabernet house wine 🍷 we ordered.
I was told twice today that they served gluten free pasta , that’s half the reason we dined tonight . But just as I was about to order , the other waitstaff told me they only had gf penne , and could only substitute in a few pasta dishes . So I decided I didn’t want pasta as I don’t really like penne .
Anyway I ordered a caprese salad 🥗 which is my favourite Italian salad . Alas and behold , It presented WITHOUT Italian basil ?🌿 what is the point ?! Did you run out of stock and expect me not to notice .
Then my salad of wilted rocket out of a supermarket packet , 5 boiled prawns 🍤 the size of a 50cent Euros was presented - without the yoghurt dressing ( they only told me at the time they had run out of yoghurt ) What happened to mis en place on a Saturday night ? The busiest night of the week ?
So the salad was undressed and dry and looked like a pigeon had sat in it . It was an absolute joke and I literally thought it was . For 15Euro!
My partners steak was not seared, and the presentation of all the dishes just was absolutely a shock to my system .
So I’m not too sure what’s going on with these high Google reviews . I’m a professional in hospitality for over 26 years in Melbourne , one of the top cities in the world for food , so why would anyone lie.
If you’re running a business , have integrity and deliver on your promise because your reputation depends on it, and it certainly depends on tourists. Over...
Read moreWe passed by this wonderful , charming resturant tonight on our way to our accommodation. My husband and I were so tired and thirsty .. so my husband went inside and asked if we can buy a bottle of water there . The gentleman welcomed us and very kindly let us to purchase a sparkling water bottle . I asked another gentleman who possibly was either the owner or manger for their closing time , and he started chatting with us and right at that moment we knew that’s the resturant we wanted to come back and eat tonight . Both gentlemen and other staff were so friendly, and professional! Food were amazing ! You feel the freshness and it’s like a homemade food! It was so good ! Atmosphere is so calm and charming , a place in a quiet , wonderful neighborhood in Venice with cute outside seating and a very Italian taste of design inside the resturant ! We loved everything and recommend them highly ! We wish we would stay here in Venice longer to go back and eat here more , but we know maybe one day , we will come...
Read moreAt first I was a little concerned with the number of reviews but I'm happy I looked past that. It is a little difficult to find since it's not in a main touristy area. It's hidden in the alleys where there isn't as much foot traffic as the other restaurants. The pricing was fair. It wasn't the tourist trap prices you see at other restaurants. Almost as if it was a restaurant for the locals.
Food was great and the staff was extremely friendly. Even though my girl spilled a full bottle of coke on me. Staff was extremely nice and moved us to another table without requesting it. It just felt like a more personal experience from a restaurant.
The bruschetta was good. It wasn't made with one of those hard breads that cut into your mouth. The bread used was perfect. The Tagliatelle alla Bolognese was great. The pana cotta was good, but that Tiramisu was definitely on point. It's not one of those restaurants you pick out just because it's there and open. Its a restaurant I can see wanting to...
