Don Peppe — Restaurant in Verona

Don Peppe is a franchise of extremely delicious “Neapolitan” traditional pizzerias which has rapidly gained in popularity in Verona thanks to the restaurant located at the ground floor of the trendy upscale “Adigeo” Shopping Center and which I currently rank as the best pizzeria in Verona in terms of pizza taste; The Don Peppe franchise crashed a myth in the Italian culture that says quality pizza is less likely to be found in huge department stores where in the past American fast foods where leading; Their simple recipe: Naturally leavened soft dough, San Marzano DOP certified plum tomatoes and Bufala DOP certified italian Buffalo mozzarella, all mixed with plenty of other slow food Italian ingredients; As a starter you cannot miss the traditional “Meridionale” masterpiece of southern Italy Street Food, aka “Cuoppo Napoletano” (potato croquettes, mini panzerotti (=stuffed dough pockets), fried courgette flowers, zeppoline (= fried doughballs) at 7€. I suggest to add to this 2 bruschettas for a total of 10€ and best to be served for 2-3 people; My choice for pizza: Margherita D.O.P. (=San Marzano Tomatoes from Agro Sarnese Nocerino DOP, basil, Bufala Mozzarella and Evo extra-Virgin olive oil; 8€); Drinks: 1 Coca-Cola Zero - 33cl Glass Bottle; 3€; Mind that reservation is almost a must especially at dinner as if you don’t do it you might end up queueing more than 1 hour in front of...

Shared a pizza with my mum (Gorgonzola and Parma ham) and we had a small beer each. Asked for the bill and We were charged €20. I've then asked the supervisor to elaborate and basically we got charged for a 4 cheeses pizza plus tomato sauce and Parma ham.... I've found it quite funny because I've always thought you got to start from a Margherita base before you start adding up the extra toppings. Of course, it's not about the money it's about making a point! On top of that the service was inattentive and the attitude of the waiters was wrong on many levels! All grumpy and arrogant.... Sono stato in questo locale un sabato a pranzo. Il locale è molto carino e i forni a vista molto caratteristici. Essendo sabato l'area era piena e il servizio è risultato un pò lento ma è del tutto comprensibile visto il numero di persone. Dopo un pò di attesa ci sediamo e abbiamo difficoltà a consultare il menù tramite QR code ma ci viene fornito subito un menù cartaceo. Durante l'ordinazione ci viene consigliato un piatto "fuori menù" e cioè pasta allo scoglio. Ordiniamo perciò 2 antipasti, 4 primi (di cui 2 fuori menù) e 3 bottiglie d'acqua. La qualità del cibo è nella media e coerente con la location di un centro commerciale. Il vero boccone amaro tuttavia è stato il conto. Per le cose ordinate sopra abbiamo speso 98 euro e 50. Con nostra sorpresa notiamo che i 2 fuori menù sono costati in totale 40 euro. Prezzo esagerato per due piatti di pasta che sapevano solo di pomodoro con una quantità esigua di vongole , cozze ed altri ingredienti presenti nel menù usati per altri piatti (concetto che stona con il "fuori menù" appunto) . Probabilmente abbiamo commesso una leggerezza a non chiedere il prezzo ma in un contesto del genere non ti aspetteresti mai un prezzo tanto lontano dalla media dei primi piatti del menù (gli altri 2 primi sono costati 14 euro l'uno). Per chiudere, sono stati messi sul conto 1,50 euro di coperto a testa , totale 6 euro ma non ci è stato portato neanche il pane. Invito perciò a prendere bene visione dei prezzi e se non sono chiari di chiedere in modo da non rimanere...
