Ristorante Da Beppino — Restaurant in Volterra

The food was great (Pasta just ok) But: We ordered a main dish, and for some reason we got our food before our wine. We waited so long, I had to go in and ask where our red wine was. When we finished our main dish we waited 25 minutes for them to get our plates, so we could get dessert, despite 4 waiters running by multiple times. No one asked us how the food was during the meal. We ordered tiramisu and coffee, we only got the tiramisu so I once again had to go ind and ask for the coffee. The table next to us found hair in their food, and the waiter didn't not even apologies ? WHAT? Just responded with a "Oh" and got them a new dish. Multiple people waited so long, they just left, because the waiters seemed to ignore them. The waiters was so unorganized it was a pain to watch! But food was okay, if you don't mind waiting combined with walking into the place and demanding the stuff you ordered - this is the place for you! And don't expect apologies for hair...

This was probably the best dinner I had during my time in Italy. Just happened to come across the restaurant as we were walking down the street and decided to try it out. It is definitely a family run business so no there was not a waiter at your side every second but the food by far made up for it. All the bad reviews about service are definitely from people who can't overlook not being waited on hand and foot to enjoy some absolutely phenomenal dishes. Each dish was near perfect and elevated above the tourist trap restaurants surrounding the main areas of the city. Where to start… We were amazed by the street, it was very peaceful and we wanted to taste some local cuisine. However what we got was below average… honestly the worst meal of our whole Tuscany trip. :( We got a COLD steak with no garnish or side dish. Neither were we asked if we wanted something with it (and of course no one asked us if we wanted our stake raw/ medium/ etc). Another dish (boar ragu) was also very mediocre …. A small, sad portion. Like from a school canteen.

We were also waiting for an ash tray for so long I even got up and took it myself from the inside…

It was overpriced and definitely not...
