Wow!! Delicious! Great service!! We accidentally found this restaurant after looking around one evening for anything other than pizza. We sat outside and they have perfect tables with heaters over each table. We had several waiters plus the manager checking on us and making recommendations. The manager encouraged us to start the meats and cheeses board and it was so delicious. Great wine recommendation too. We tried the beef cheek - and it came with two, with delicious roasted carrots, and an earthy cream potato with herbs, and a wonderful brown gravy. The wild boar pasta was also delicious. And the chantilly cream with puff pastry sticks was so yummy after dinner. Compared to the other restaurants in Volterra, this little hidden gem is worth your attention, because it's obvious is that the chef has a good sense of flavor and presentation, and you'll feel the special attention of the service team. It's so great, we came back for...
Read moreExcellent food, very nice selection of wines and a wonderful menu of local cuisine. The chef clearly knows what they're doing with seafood (seasonal menu), although the restaurant doesn't seem to be equipped with the necessary cutlery - like utensils to eat lobster with. The mixed seafood platter was beautifully charred and grilled, and the lobster linguine filling and well prepared. There is a wild boar stew with chocolate on the menu, which seems to be a local specialty. The appetiser board for 2 can definitely feed 3. (See photo) The dining area is quite small and VERY cramped, so definitely book ahead of time regardless of how big your group is. The amount of tables and chairs that are squeezed into the dining area are clearly too many for the size, so the atmosphere becomes stuffy and too familiar very fast in peak hours (dinner). Otherwise, the food and wine is highly...
Read moreThis restaurant was recommended to us by someone that has lived in the area for 40 years. Volterra by itself is a location that anyone traveling to Tuscany shouldn’t miss, but this fabulous family run ristorante makes the trip even more worth it. This is not your typical trattoria or ristorante. This is fresh, unique, high quality regional cuisine that was one of the BEST meals we had during our stay in the region. The chef’s fresh fish special of the day tasted was delicious. The freshness was evident and prepared to perfection. Every dish we had from the traditional Tuscan soup to the beef tartare and more, was stunning. The servers and hosts were so kind and welcoming. If you want an authentic, local and high quality meal in a spot that is not overrun by tourists, this is the place....
