Orchidea ristorante pizzeria — Restaurant in Zafferana Etnea

The restaurant was busy when we walked by at lunch time so we thought it would be a good place to try for some local pizza in the evening . Got the impression that we annoyed the staff by showing up to eat just after 7pm, apparently too early for Italians! Basically had the starter thrown onto our table by the grumpiest waitress I have ever seen. Seemed good value for money but my husband started feeling unwell before we even left and ended up in hospital the next day with food poisoning. Wouldn't have been surprised to discover the chef (who must have had his feet up by the fire when we arrived) deliberately put rotten salami on my husband's pizza for the tourists who arrived too early for their liking. Tanto el pueblo (Zafferana) como el restaurante nos resultaron un remanso de paz a salvo de las masas de turistas. El restaurante tiene buenos comedores interiores y una agradable terraza. Nos acogieron con amabilidad y nos orientaron muy bien sobre los platos a elegir. La comida fue deliciosa, variada y muy bien servida. Todos los productos son naturales, de calidad y elaborados por la propietaria, una señora con mucha experiencia y destreza en la cocina. Incluso los postres son de elaboración propia. Aunque todo estaba riquísimo, destaco las setas, de las faldas del Etna, una maravilla. Después del postre nos obsequiaron con una miel de castañas deliciosa, un más que digno broche de oro para esta estupenda comida. Finalmente salió a saludarnos la cocinera y propietaria de este negocio familiar, que inauguró con su marido hace 53 años. Por supuesto que la felicitamos y le aseguramos que escribiríamos una reseña elogiando las virtudes de su restaurante. Desde España les deseamos muchos años de éxito. Sia il paese (Zafferana) che il ristorante erano un'oasi di pace, al sicuro dalle masse di turisti. Il ristorante dispone di belle sale interne e di una piacevole terrazza. Ci hanno accolto gentilmente e ci hanno dato ottime indicazioni sui piatti tra cui scegliere. Il cibo era delizioso, vario e molto ben servito. Tutti i prodotti sono naturali, di qualità e realizzati dalla titolare, una signora con molta esperienza e bravura in cucina. Anche i dolci sono fatti in casa. Nonostante fosse tutto buonissimo, sottolineo i funghi, delle pendici dell'Etna, meravigliosi. Dopo il dessert ci hanno offerto un buonissimo miele di castagno, una più che degna conclusione di questo meraviglioso pasto. Alla fine è venuta a salutarci la cuoca e proprietaria di questa azienda di famiglia, che ha aperto con il marito 53 anni fa. The most awful experience of dining we had in our holidays in the area. The staff looked very exhausted and we felt uncomfortable. The waiter started taking the orders without a word of welcome! Nothing !!!! Not get paid ????? My pasta was missed some ingredient and thanks to an Italian couple next to our table, I get the appropriate cheese 🧀!!!! Although the lack of presentation and low quality of food and especially service, the cost of products were expensive!!!!!! Tables clothes were extremely dirty and so were the " uniform " of waiters!!! We left the place very disappointed. After all, me and my partner felt 🤮 sick for a few days.
