Tenkin, the last ramen shop I visited before leaving Asahikawa, was an absolute gem. The bowl of ramen I had there was so incredible that I couldn’t resist ordering a second one on the spot. It was one of the best bowls of ramen I’ve ever had.
I opted for the shoryu ramen. It was a symphony of flavors in one broth. The rich, thick, and piping hot soup left me so satisfied that I wanted to finish it right away. The shoryu flavor itself was already addictive, but the addition of butter elevated the broth’s flavours to a whole new level. The balance between the buttery flavor and the saltiness was simply perfect. It was a culinary masterpiece!
The noodles had just the right chewy texture, while the charred chashu was tender and not overseasoned. It was a delightful combination of flavors!
The prices were very reasonable, and I honestly felt like they could have charged a bit more. If you’re in Asahikawa, Tenkin’s ramen is a must-try. 5 stars is still an injustice, I would’ve given them 6. It was an extremely satisfying way to wrap up my ramen pilgrimage before moving on with the rest of my...
Read moreOne of the original spots in Asahikawa, Tenkin is famous for their Shoyu (soy sauce) Ramen and Shio (salt) Ramen.
We ordered Butter Corn shio ramen, Shoyu ramen and 3 piece gyoza.
The shio ramen broth was extremely flavourful especially with the butter and pairs extremely well with the noodles which were cooked to perfection. The bouncy texture of the noodles combined with the saltiness and umami of the broth is a perfect match.
The shoyu ramen was also very delicious but more delicate broth with a sweetness and depth which is perfect especially when it is cold outside.
Toppings had more to be desired and were probably below average but that is forgiven considering the star is the noodle and broth.
Gyoza is alright but not too memorable.
Had to queue around 40 minutes though but I would eat this again if I am back...
Read moreSoooooo good! We wanted to try Asahikawa-style shoyu ramen and also shio flavor. They had both and I’m still dreaming of the broth, they were both so good. The shop was tiny but efficient. There was a line outside the door when we arrived but didn’t wait more than maybe 15 minutes to get in. The menu is simple and they had pictures with English so it helped make ir a bit easier to order. They also offer half portions, though I kinda regret getting half portions—while they were filling I just wanted to keep eating the ramen was...
