坂まち — Restaurant in Atami

100% Honest review from a picky tourist:

I’ve been to a lot of “highly reviewed” restaurants in Japan of all varieties of cuisine, and I am generally skeptical due to a number of mediocre experiences. That being said, my friend and I took a risk on this place, and I must say, it is an easy 5 stars, and they earned every one of them. The quality of food for the price is unbelievable. I am assuming some day the price will have to go up because the quality you get here is the same as other restaurants that charge at least 1-2x more for their food.

Beyond that, the owner is extremely friendly, thoughtfully sources his food and drinks (we had a great sake pairing with our sashimi and beer with our ramen). He also speaks good English and is a delight to talk to.

This one is a no brainer, and if I return to Atami some day, I will be eating here 100%!! Well done Sakamachi. You won’t regret it (from a sincere tourist who has regretted many overpriced and overhyped...
