Great little spot with friendly ladies taking your order, cooking and serving your food. If you don't think about this as being Mexican food it's much easier to be charitable in the review. I'm aiming for balance.
Menu is small - tacos and taco plates, taco rice, and one option for a hot dog, french fries, taco sticks (taquitos) and beer and soft-drink options.
I opted for the taco plate, which includes one taco, one serving of taco rice, one onion ring and a few french fries. French fries were crisp, salted well and delicious. Onion ring as well was crispy and far better than I expected.
The taco is soft but fried to be a little crisp. It's thicker and I presume house-made, definitely a bonus. Inside was lightly seasoned ground beef, shredded lettuce and a slice of tomato along with some cheddar cheese. The flavor is fine, it just isn't really Mexican. It's tasty and the fresh, cool lettuce & tomato give it a light, bright taste that contrasts with all the fried parts fo the plate. It's a well-intentioned effort at a taco, it's just not really a taco in taste, just in conceptualization and shape.
Taco rice has all the insides of a taco piled neatly over a perfect scoop of white rice. Again, the taste is fine, it's just not Mexican food.
The taco stick is essentially a version of a taquito, though lighter and thinner. Filled with meat.
So come and enjoy the friendly ladies but if you're missing home and hungry for a taste of Mexican food this isn't going to be of much help unless you've been gone a really long time or never really had good Mexican...
Read moreTacos-ya is a small, cozy spot that really gives off a warm, home-style vibe. When I walked in, I was the only customer and had my choice of seating, which was nice. The space is limited—with just four tables for groups of four and one table for a couple—but that intimate setting is part of its charm.
The woman at the front who took my order was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which immediately made the experience even better. I ordered a meal and a drink (pictured), and for just 1,040 yen, it was a solid deal. The food hit the spot and kept me fueled for the day. They also have a house-made "special" salsa or sauce that adds a unique touch to the flavors.
If you're wandering around the area and want to try something a little different, definitely stop by Tacos-ya. It’s a great little place to sample something new in a relaxed, friendly...

At ¥180/taco they ain't the cheapest around but they're by far the...
