We touched down at New Chitose and headed straight to the Baikoken stall on Ramen Street for lunch—it was the perfect first bowl to kick off our trip.
Their soy sauce ramen, a signature from Asahikawa, was deeply flavorful with a broth made from pork, chicken bones, dried sardines, and kelp. It had a strong umami punch and leaned slightly on the salty side, but in a way that felt bold and satisfying. The medium-fine curly noodles were springy and held the broth really well.
We also tried their cheese gyoza—crispy on the outside with a creamy cheese filling inside that offered a nice contrast to the ramen. It was a fun, tasty side dish that we weren’t expecting but ended up really enjoying.
Though it’s located in the airport, Baikoken didn’t feel rushed or touristy. The staff were helpful and the restaurant had a cozy, casual atmosphere. They even helped us stow our luggage so we could eat comfortably.
For a quick, authentic bowl of ramen straight after landing, Baikoken is a solid choice. Full flavors, quick service, and a great introduction to...

The ramen is pretty good. I got the miso soup base and it’s really hearty. It’s not super salty and has a hint of spiciness. The chasu is good, some pieces are really fatty but they are quite flavourful, though some parts are also a bit tougher. The noodles are thick and quite chewy. Overall it’s a pretty decent ramen.
The gyoza filling was a bit too soft for my preferences, it’s really mushy so if that’s what you like then you’ll probably like this.
Overall, it came quick, table was clean and spacious. The queue for this shop was fast too, so if you’re in a hurry at the airport, you can try...
Read moreAbsolutely loved the miso chashuu ramen at Baikoken Ramen in Chitose Airport. The broth was rich and well balanced, the chashuu was juicy and full of flavour — just a really satisfying bowl of ramen that hit the spot.
Even though it was busy (as you’d expect at a good ramen joint in an airport), I was seated within 10 minutes, and it was well worth the short wait.
Great value for money too. Perfect final meal before flying out of Hokkaido. Would happily eat here...
