ドッグカフェｂｉｋｋｅ — Restaurant in Fujinomiya

This Dog Café is what those Cafés should be like: animal-friendly! I saw something like a pet rescue certificate on the wall, so some or all dogs might even be rescues. It is a small, familiar Café that seems to be actually run by the dog owner and not random employees that can't even handle the dogs. Local owners come by with their own dogs and you are allowed to play with them aswell, so which dogs you see depends. If I remember correctly, the "entry" was 1000yen per person, but you could order food and drinks up to 1000yen for free. If you order more, you only pay the difference. You also get a little cup of dog treats, which the dogs often came by for. Both me and my friend were even able to hold a dog on our laps. We could sit as long as we wanted.

I am glad I found this Café because I was looking forward to visiting a Dog Café in Japan. But after reading the reviews of those chain establishments, I didn't want to go anymore. I thought dogs are more suitable for pet Cafés than other animals, but even the dogs in those chain Cafés seem to have a bad time and they are full with people and customers are rushed. Not in this Dog Café at all! This one is great. And also very clean. You can sit for a long time and will have lots of interaction with the dogs, even if not all of them like to be pet a lot. First of all, the dogs, mostly chihuahuas, are incredible sweet and adorable. They are all little angels who redeem the reputation of their breed. Secondly, the owner was such a sweetheart. She really made us feel at home. The delicious cinnamon cappuccino was an added bonus. We stumbled upon this cafe by chance and gave it a shot since we absolutely adore dogs. And we are so very glad we made the choice to stop and sit in. There is a flat fee of JP¥1000 per person if you want to sit inside and pet the doggos, but you can consume food and/or drinks upto JP¥1000. So it isn't bad at all. Only sat down for a milkshake and i was missing my own pets back in Switzerland. There's a cover fee of 1000 yen, so even if you only consume something below 1000 you still pay 1000. The dog cafe is run by 2 sisters who were both very welcoming and talkative. The dogs were also well behaved and you can tell which has a big extroverted personality and who is more introverted.
