The service here is superbly fantastic! They were very responsive in Instagram messaging. When I made my booking through Pocket Concierge, I ordered two kids sets for my three kids to share. They proactively said they'd split one set into two so that my two younger wouldn't need to fight. Upon entering the restaurant, everyone greeted us with a wide smile. They are so attentive throughout the whole service. The head chef also comes in now and then to check on us and tells us that the food and drinks for the kids are refillable for free.
The first dish is appetizer - white asparagus grilled to perfection. Topped with green peas puree with some whole green peas and fish roe. The seasoning is light so you can taste the natural sweetness of the top quality ingredients.
Next, we had an assortment of green plum, Mackerel sushi, yolk miso pickle, goose fish liver, dried mullet roe (specially prepared for me because I cannot take beef), and boiled octopus. The green plum was big, juicy and very refreshing. Was in a bed of liquor infused jelly. The Mackerel sushi melts in your mouth. The yolk miso pickle was very interesting. Melts in your mouth, smooth but also a unique texture. Can tell a lot of effort went into making this small and complex yolk. The boiled octopus was cooked perfectly, not rubbery at all. The goose fish liver melts in your mouth, decadently rich and satisfying. The dried mullet roe was very special. Complex and deep flavours.
Next, longtooth grouper, squid and tuna sashimi, with soy sauce and fresh grated wasabi (not the fake wasabi paste). The longtooth grouper was so fresh and I slowly savoured its natural sweetness. The tuna fish melts in your mouth. The squid has a nice fresh bouncy texture. High quality ingredients.
Next, the channel rockfish in soup, with water shield and green Yuzu. The rockfish was smooth. The water shield, never had it before, it is a jelly like outside and crunchy inside. The Yuzu is refreshing. The soup is flavourful too.
Next was swordfish, deep fried to perfection. Outside crispy, topped with salt, makes your mouth salivate for more. Great mid meal dish to keep your appetite going. The myoga ginger was not too spicy. So yummy.
Next was Yuba and sea urchin. Look at how delicately the seaweed arranged into an urchin shape. The two small cucumber rings were also delicately arranged to be intertwined. The urchin was not at all overpowering. It is mellow and goes very well with the Yuba custard, with a little bit of wasabi.
Next was the Japanese pufferfish and egg plant. The broad bean was big! This time the soup was more gelatinous. The eggplant doesn't taste like your regular eggplant from the supermarket. The texture is special. I think the pufferfish was mixed with either yam or burdock root. Sooo good.
Last savoury dish is the sea eel and cone, miso soup and pickles. The head chef showed us the eel in the rice. The rice is soft fluffy and soaked with flavour. The eel was mashed into the rice. Even the small corn kernels in the rice were so crunchy and bursting with sweetness. The miso soup was robust, had spongy seaweed in it. The pickles esp I think was kelp, was good too. We could have second serving of rice.
The dessert of passionfruit ice cream, Nata de Coco and loquat fruit is such a nice way to end the meal!
The kaiseki is so healthy, light yet complex and deep flavours, that is simple and clean unlike some Michelin restaurants that can become overly flamboyant. Though we had many courses, it doesn't feel overly filling,...
Read moreFrom the moment we entered the elegant space, we knew we were in for a special treat. The staff gave us a warm welcome. The 9-course kaiseki meal was a journey through the current seasons’ best ingredients, with each dish a carefully crafted work of art. The flavors were delicate and nuanced, and the presentation was impeccable. My most memorable was yolk pickled with miso and sea urchin with yuba was so fresh and full of umami. The service was attentive and discreet, anticipating our every need. This was more than just a meal; it was a sensory experience that truly captured the essence of kaiseki. We highly recommend this restaurant for a unique and memorable dining experience when you...
Read moreMade a dinner reservation here while my family and I were in Fukuoka. We had a warm welcome and the chef immediately started to prepare the first kaiseki dish. It was awkward initially as we had language barrier, but the chef was very cheerful and entertaining. It helped to lighten the mood 🙂 As I caught a cold during the trip, I was coughing quite a bit. They were very thoughtful and offered me a hot tea to sooth my throat. Really appreciated the gesture 🙏 Throughout the meal, every dish was a visual and gastronomic delight. Definitely one of the highlights in our...
