This was my first meal when I arrived in Fukuoka. I’ve heard so much about Hakata ramen and this was a superb introduction. It’s easy to see why it’s one of the most popular types of ramen in Japan. I’m definitely a fan of the thin but firm noodles, the several pieces of roasted pork were wonderful too. Please keep in mind there’s only bar seating (iirc there were eight or nine seats total). But apparently this place has been around since the 1950’s so they’re obviously doing some of the best ramen in town. Hakuryuken was worth the the trip and I’ll be back if I’m ever in town.

3.5 stars. Needed to go here, the original store making Hakata ramen. It was memorable for the historic factor. Thinner noodles, and tasty broth. I think I've adapted and more used to the more modern style which has more flavour. But overall a good ramen.
