한국인이면 가지 않으시는게 좋겠습니다. 웨이터 마다 다를 수는 있으나 외국인, 특히 한국인을 차별하는 느낌의 서비스를 받았어요.
I had lunch with my family and made a reservation under a Korean name but spoke fluent Japanese during the phone call. Despite several empty window seats, we were seated at the innermost corner, closest to the lavatory.
I kindly asked for a glass of dry wine and ordered a specific one from the list. However, the waiter brought a different wine without asking me, claiming he thought it would suit my palate because it was sweet. When I asked for the menu again and pointed out the mistake, he simply made an excuse and left. He never returned to our table. This was particularly frustrating because he was very friendly and attentive to the Japanese guests seated by the window.
When serving wine, there are specific rules that should be respected. If the waiter wanted to recommend another wine, he should have asked for my consent or at least offered a taste. Instead, he made the decision on his own, ignoring my request.
I asked to speak with the manager and explained the situation. The manager offered me to have the first glass for free and asked me to order a new one. But the experience was already tainted. I ordered a new wine but left the first glass untouched.
Some might think this is a minor issue, but at Wolfgang, you expect not only good food but also sincere hospitality. The steak was okay, but I can't shake the feeling that we were discriminated against, and that experience...
Read moreI know I will have problems after dining at this restaurant, but it's a good problem to have for the restaurant. In short, it is an excellent restaurant in both form and taste. Having had positive experiences at CUT by Wolfgang Puck at Palazzo in Las Vegas, I was eager to try Wolfgang Steakhouse at Grand Hyatt Fukuoka. It turned out to be excellent. The place is luxurious, the service is great, and unlike in Las Vegas, tipping is very rare in Japan, so I did not have to tip for great service. What I really liked was the food. They seem to take great care in preparing dishes that taste good and look beautiful. Each dish is like a piece of art, beautifully presented. The crab cake is grilled nicely, crispy outside and soft inside with plenty of crab meat. The lobster bisque is delicious, and when they knew we were sharing, they offered to split and serve it in two. The sirloin is nicely cooked and served on a hot plate with boiled fat and they even slope the plate so we can dip the stake in the oil if we want more cooked. The salad is beautifully dressed, and when they knew we liked avocado, they offered to add it to our order. I dined at this place twice and will miss it, knowing I might not be able to find a similar...
Read moreI know that Wolfgang’s is expensive casual dining. The atmosphere was high scale but the service was nice but a bit too chatty. My main course arrived and the waiter wouldn’t leave. Ordered the round medallions and it was just flat steak not even round. There were mashed potatoes and an enormous amount of broccoli. Not to be rude, I said that it reminded me of Hard Rock Cafe. The waiter said they are from the same corporation. Paid with a credit card and another waiter escorted us out but I had to ask to get my credit card returned. Did he forget? I probably won’t go back. I’ll miss the fancy atmosphere but I can get better service and better...
