The staff of this hotel needs more training on guest service, honest and language.

I booked 2 rooms via Agoda and one of the room the A/C temperature no matter we tune the temperature it would back to 25 degrees Celsius but another room could keep at the temperature we set. We checked with front desk to request engineer to come to my room and check, but she taught me take away the lamp card reset the power again then will be normal. Unfortunately; it remain unchanged. on the 3rd day we asked another front desk, she told me it's control by them. She would help me to tune to 20 degree Celsius and if still cannot let her know and still refused to have an engineer to go to the room and check. Of course; nothing changed still auto back to 25 degrees Celsius. This is the first lie they said.

Second lie, we rent a car and parked the first night, but on the next day; we went out and back, they said our 7-seater van too high which unable to park. We said we parked last night how come now said height of the van doesn't fit. After couple of translate conversation, it was full for van parking spot. The guard blamed us why we didn't get a green card for coming back to save the spot. We explained we didn't know there had a green card as none of the staff informed us upon check-in or pick up the car. Since our care would return on the next early morning at the hotel. If I park to somewhere else and then picked the car back which quite time consuming, so we decided to contact car company to return the car same night. Since last minute plan; car company needed to wait 30 mins to come over. We asked the front desk staff if we could park the car in the hotel area for 30 mins because we decided to return the car indeed.

After the staff asked her supervisor of permit allow us to park the car aside for temporary. We thought everything could settle and we wanted went back to room and wait for the car company came. Unfortunately; the staff preferred us to wait at the lobby. They missed to give us the "green card" no parking space reserved and we didn't request they must give us back a spot or any compensation. We only asked to park aside for 30 mins which waited for car company and return the car. They seem not believed us and thought we would only park there and gone. It's hard to believe this kind of service from a large brand of hotel would happen. Normally they would allow us back to our room and once car company came and contacted us to go down to lobby.

After we returned the car and went back to the front desk informed them it's done. One of a senior staff having a very rude attitude to say he couldn't understand. Surprised me 3rd time within an hour of their staff 1) telling lies, 2) Poor English and only rely on translator. 3) Rude service.

This hotel and brand made me reassess their service and I doubt should I still book this Mitsui...

I suggested this hotel to a friend of mine, as I knew other friends had stayed here before. There are others in this chain so be clear about which one you're going to. My friend LOVED the room - she said it was really good for the size and price; it was arranged well.

I picked her up from the airport and helped her check in. I wanted to help her carry her bags up to the room (there is no porter from what I can see) and the male front desk staff immediately shouted at me that I was not allowed to go up. I clarified that I wasn't staying there, I was just helping my friend put her bag down before we would go out again in a few minutes, and he interrupted me, again shouting aggressively that it's not the company policy. What a terrible impression to make on a tourist to your country: fake polite and then suddenly shouting aggressively at someone who is trying to help you. My friend was totally shocked. It's the rudest treatment I have ever had after living in this city for 5.5 years and it was totally unnecessary and disgusting. This grey-haired man continued to glare at me while my friend chose the herbal tea and other complimentary toiletries she could take up to her room (struggling to carry her bag, jacket etc. as one person).

There is a restaurant adjacent to the hotel but the entrance is not accessible from the hotel (at least for lunchtime; I'm not sure about other times). It's overpriced but apparently it's good, and my friend was down on a waiting list with a 3-hour wait for lunch! So they do try to use the "captive market" but understand there are hundreds of restaurants within a 10-minute walk, including other kaisen-don (seafood rice bowl) places so don't limit yourself to this place. She really wanted to eat there but it was just too busy.

They have complimentary umbrellas for rainy days, etc. so honestly they have a decent set-up but it was ruined by that rude staff member. There is a waiting area in the lobby (between the front desk and the "restaurant") but it is often crowded and dirty like a bus station (stained seating, etc.).

I personally won't recommend this hotel to visitors again - there are others in the same area and...

I recently spent five nights at the Mitsui Garden Hotel Fukuoka Gion, and overall, it was a pleasant stay with a few notable highlights and minor drawbacks. Location is a major strength of this hotel. It's within walking distance to Canal City, one of Fukuoka's most popular shopping and entertainment complexes, which makes it incredibly convenient for tourists looking to explore the city. Additionally, there is a bus stop directly across the street, providing easy access to other parts of Fukuoka. The room itself is typical for a hotel in this price range: small but clean. It’s well-maintained, and the bed was comfortable enough for a good night’s sleep. However, a notable issue was a persistent sewage smell in the bathroom, a common complaint in many budget-friendly Japanese hotels. It wasn’t overwhelming, but it was noticeable and a bit off-putting. One of the standout features of the Mitsui Garden Hotel is its exceptional service. The front desk staff was incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay. They went out of their way to assist with reservations, made phone calls on our behalf, and provided great recommendations to make our trip more enjoyable. Their warm hospitality truly enhanced the experience and made us feel welcomed. In conclusion, the Mitsui Garden Hotel Fukuoka Gion offers excellent value for money, especially considering its prime location and outstanding service. While the room is small and there’s a slight issue with the bathroom smell, these are minor drawbacks when compared to the overall convenience and the high level of service provided. Overall good hotel for value and close to the main Hakata JR station and other conveniences. Staff were great in assisting us - we dropped our luggage off early prior to check-in (as this was a last minute booking for us and we stayed 1 night) and they had moved our luggage to our room directly once it was available. We also stored our luggage with them for a few hours after we checked out. We got thank you cookies when we checked out :) Room was a decent size for a Japanese city hotel and not much of a view (both of which we didn't mind). There were some small noises but those were all the minor inconveniences there were. Room was generally comfortable and had most amenities you could think to have (they will also remind you to pick up some toiletries/amenities on front of the check -in counter) - PJs, blanket, tv, mini fridge, bottles of water, air humidifier/purifier, iron, ironing board, cups, coffee/tea packets, shampoo + conditioner + body wash, toothbrush + toothpaste, razor, hair brush, face wash, moisturizer lotion + milk. There is laundry service in the hotel, but also a laundromat. There is a clothesline in the bathroom, but it didn't dry overnight too well. In terms of other amenities - notably, the big public bath and the restaurants at the lobby. The hotel is also super close to Canal City (shopping mall).

Great hotel in one of the best location. Walking distance from Hakata Station, near Gion subway for direct line to the Airport, near Kushida Shrine, and the shopping district, right next to canal city for shopping. There is a MaxValue supermarket within 5 minutes walk for cheap snacks and drinks OR a 7 eleven across the road. We stayed in a twin room so room was quite spacious. Everything is provided for in the room and the humidifier was a great addition as the air in Japan tends to get too dry. The bathroom has a slight tinge of smell but that was gone after using the room deoderant, suspect that it comes from the exhaust fan. The roof top spa was a nice feature for the price. However, do take note that opening time of the spa is from 5am to 9am and 3pm to 1am. The water in both indoor and outdoor spa can be quite hot and having a temperature indicator would be nice. The sauna room is on the smaller side fitting maybe 5 guys max. Breakfast wasn't included in our booking but after reading the great reviews about the breakfast we paid for one morning breakfast at ¥2200 per pax and wasn't disappointed. There are 2 time slots for breakfast 6.30am to 8am and 8am to 9am. I guess this is to manage crowd. The food was amazing and definitely recommend to anyone staying there.
