This is a pleasant place to enjoy a cup of coffee or tea, freshly prepared by hand, along with a small sweet or a cake if you wish. There is also a lunch option provided by a nearby restaurant.
Behind the counter, a variety of ceramic cups with saucers, and some mugs without saucers, are on display. Say the numeric column and alphabetic row of your choice, and that's what you will be drinking from. All or most have been crafted by é¶æ¿ãããããright here in Fukushima.
The proprietor makes good coffee and good conversation. He is quite knowledgable about Fukushima history if that's the topic, but as a skilled conversationalist, he gets other people talking, even if they are strangers meeting for the first time in this cozy little place. (A small sign on the counter says that mobile phones should be in silent mode, and people should refrain from phone conversations. This also helps to get people talking to each other in real life. The guest next to me was from Hokkaido, so there was much to discuss about bouncing back from the recent earthquake there, and Hokkaido's delicious agricultural products.)
