お食事処 仁屋 — Restaurant in Hakone

We trenched through thick wooded forest and we were prepared to walk 2 more miles out of this town to the next as everything was seemingly closed.

Thankfully at 7PM we walked past this particular restaurant. The lights were on and we were welcomed inside.

Beautiful and clean setting inside.

Seats 14 people in one room at 3 tables. They also have a tatami room that seats about 12. There is a bar counter area with 3 seats as well.

Help yourself to water.

We ordered the tempura set, grilled fish set, French fries, fried cheese potatoes and draft Asahi beer.

Please be careful with the fish. It is half a fish and the bones are still in tact.

They have a nice variety of alcohol- whisky, beer, souchu, sake (hot and cold) and umeshu.

Delicious and fresh food.

We were able to plug in our phone at an outlet to keep them charged.

I don't understand why this place gets bad reviews written below. People like to complain more than...

Worst food and service you can find in Japan! Right from the start the waitress was annoyed and unfriendly. The restaurant was super dirty, you could see the cook touch dirty dishes and a second later prepare your food without cleaning his hands. Edamame were frozen. When we told the waiter he touched (!) the edamame with his hands and didn’t seem happy about us asking for warm edamame. He then took them away and never brought new ones. Since the fried chicken tasted awful, we decided to leave the restaurant without eating. The waitress charged the edamame and even told us edamame are used to be frozen when served. The food was good. we had the curry pork with rice. They offer a pick up and drop off service to your hotel which was great. My only gripe was the service. Not sure if I'm just paranoid but The waiter really had a bad attitude and it seemed like he just didn't want to be there or we were really bothering him or something. He even forgot our drinks (we all ordered the same drink and at that time were the only ones there). As one poster mentioned though they are one of the few places open...
